Do I have what it takes?(Click on the links for more information.)
- Firstly you need an Internet service that supports a 32-bit connection.
- You will also need a fairly good PC with these System Requirements.
- If you are an AOL subscriber you will need to use it's own Winsock version.
- And you will have to have DirectX installed.
NEXT: It is a very good idea to prepare your hard drive as described in The Realm Troubleshooting guide:
"When you install the new Realm, make sure to use an empty directory. Create a Realm3 directory on your hard drive. Since this will be a new directory, it will be completely empty. Run SCANDISK and DEFRAG before beginning the download to make sure that your hard drive space is clean and contiguous."
Now to download the files:(Again, this is from The Realm Troubleshooting guide:
If you have never played The Realm on the computer you are currently using, you must download the game from:http://www.realmserver.com/download.html
- Check the System Requirements above to make sure that your system will run The Realm.
- Download all five files by clicking on the links on that page. (realm1.exe, realm2.exe, realm3.exe, realm4.exe, realm5.exe)
- Place all five files into a single, empty directory where you want to install The Realm.
- The files are self-extracting files, so you just have to execute the files in order to unzip them. To do this you simply type the name of each file (or double-click on each one of the files in File Manager or Explorer.)
- Then just run SETUP.EXE from the game directory. This will create a SIERRA program group with a REALM icon.
- Now you are ready to play. Make sure that you are connected to the internet through your service provider, then simply click on the REALM icon in the Sierra group.
