Game
"The Adventures of Bayou Billy" is a Nintendo game that was made by Konami.
It was released in June of 1989.
In the game, you play Bayou Billy, a dude living in the Bayou in Louisiana.
You've got a girlfriend named Anabelle. There's a bad guy named Gordon, "the
Gangster King of Bourbon Street". You're constantly messing up his illegal
operations, so in revenge he's kidnapped Anabelle.
You gotta get to get to Gordon's estate and rescue Annabelle! Along the way,
you'll meet a bunch of bad guys and pick up a bunch of weapons. That's
basically the point of the game.
The game is a lot of fun! It combines hand-to-hand combat with driving and
shooting. The game is one player. A Zapper is optional, but defintely comes
in handy!
If you want more info, check out the game manual! You have a choice of
plain text,
HTMLized, and
HTMLized with scanned graphics!
Also, I've got the ROM up. There's no disclaimer here, cuz the thing about
you can only keep it for 24 hours and then have to delete it is crap anyway.
It is illegal to make a ROM, for testing, backup purposes, or whatever. But
Nintendo isn't making any money off the NES anyway, so they won't be losing
any money either. They're just worried about their precious copyrights, even
of games that they never plan on rereleasing anyway. To them, copyrights are
more important than a person being able to play an old game. If a Nintendo
or Konami rep is reading this, you can
e-mail me,
but I ain't takin' the ROM down. To all the players,
download and enjoy!
The ROM ain't as good as playing the real game, though. For instance, worse
sound quality and no way to use a Zapper. So, you might be wondering where
to get the game cartridge. Well, flea markets are your best bet. Another
place to look is a department store like Kmart that sell old cartridges for,
like, $9.95. Yard sales and garage sales, too! The
NES Rarity List and
Price Guide v 5.0 (11/18/97) compiled by Mike Etler and Patrick Menning
says the game cart is "Borderline Common", so the game should be fairly easy
to find.
So, how much is the game worth? Well,
www.playersc.com says $6.00.
Tomorrow's
News Online says $4.00. The
NES Rarity List and
Price Guide v 5.0 (11/18/97) compiled by Mike Etler and Patrick Menning
says $5.00.
Dave's Video Game Classics
says $1.04. So, I guess we can conclude that the average price would be
$4.01.
What's that? Ya need some help on the game? Well, you're in luck! The Game
