Mumbo's Mountain

A green, rich mountain full of medows, pools, flowers, and the home turf of Mumbo Jumbo. Although it seems peaceful on the surface, this mountain holds many deadly features beneith the tranquility. A load of terrible termites, a short-tempered bull, purple Grublins, and a killer Kong named Conga inhabit the lush fields.

Some basic tips that apply for the whole game:

  • If you can hear a Jinjo whistling or calling "Help!", the little guy isn't far.
  • You can't use a new move till Bottles teaches it to you.
  • Up to 10 Honeycombs can be left unused. Leave some in case your life drains low.
  • Don't underestimate the importance of items. After you have enough Jigsaw Pieces and Musical Notes to quit, doesn't mean you should. Especially since it erases all your Notes and you have to start from scratch.
  • Don't underestimate your opponent. A baddie may have a trick up it's sleve you didn't predict.

    There are 40 Eggs in this course, not counting the fifty Bottles gives you.

    Red Feathers

    None in this level.

    Invunerability Feathers

    These don't come in till Clanker's Cavern, 0 in this world.

    Beast Army

    Grublins

    You'll find about 5 of these purple critters in Mumbo's Mountain, 2 should attack you as you enter the world. They simply charge at you, roll or punch at them, they only take one hit.

    Ticker

    The pink termites. It takes two Claw Swipes to takes them out, but one Forward Roll or Beak Barge is suficient. These guys attack by charging.

    Bigbutt

    The bull that roams part of the course. Using a couple Rat-a-tats on him with stun him for several seconds, he cannot be killed. He attack by ramming out with his horns, and he is far faster than you. If he attacks, turn a peck him in the eye, don't run.

    Conga

    The ape in the corner of the level that throws oranges at you. See the Jigsaw Information for help defeating this lug.

    Jigsaw Pieces


    Eyepoint

    From the start, go up the path ahead. At the top of the mountain, go forward to Mumbo's Hut. Flap Flip Jump into the right eye to collect a Jiggy.

    Bust the Huts

    Near the huts around Mumbo's Skull, you'll find Bottles. Learn the Beak Buster, and use it on each hut. You'll earn Musical Notes, Eggs, the Green Jinjo, a Golden Banjo, and your Jigsaw.

    Stone Centered

    Across on the other side of the upper part of Mumbo's Mountain, you'll find a formation of stones. Talk to Bottles and get the Talon Trot, and collect the Jigsaw resting in the center of the rock.

    Steep Slopes

    Now that you have you Talon Trot, run back the Mumbo's area. Now jump on slick mountain side beside it, and use the Talon Trot to run around on it. Collect 18 Musical Notes and another Jiggy.

    Tangarine Targets

    Head to the far corner of the mountain, opposite where you begin the stage. A killer Kong called Conga will hurl oranges at you! Stand on the 3 plates on the ground with oranges printed on them. Step away after the shadow of the orange looms over you, and the orange will hit the plate. Hit all 3 plates this way, and earn Jiggy.

    Chimpy the Chump

    Climb Conga's tree, and grab an orange.
    "Yum! Oranges are nice!"
    Feed it to Chimpy, the monkey jammin' near Conga.

    Baboon Battle

    Flap Flip Jump off the stump that rises, and talk to Bottles to learn 'The Ancient Ways of the Egg', and get 50 Eggs. Run over the the wooden pillar before Conga, and fire an Egg at him. Leap to avoid the orange he retorts with, and fire another. This time, he'll hurl two. Hit him with a final Egg, and he'll cough up a Jigsaw.

    Blue Stones

    On your way back to Mumbo, make a stop at Juju, his totem pole. Fire an Egg into each of it's mouths to get Jiggy 8.

    Transform to Termite

    Intorduce yourself to Mumbo, in his hut, and spend your Mumbo Tokens(locations below) on him. He'll make you a termite. Go into Ticker's Tower, the rock surronded by termites. Circle the tower around the paths lining the sides. If you're having problems with a jump, then try standing closer to the edge, not the wall. At the top, get a Jiggy and Extra Life.

    The Jinjos Five

    The Blue Jinjo is waiting on a rock jutting out the top of the lake, between the start and the bull.
    The 4th hut you crush in Mumbo's Village holds the Green Jinjo.
    Rescue the Orange Jinjo atop the stone ruins.
    The Pink Jinjo stews on a rock you need to Flap Flip to near the entrance.
    On the sloping mountain below the stone formation, the Yellow Jinjo is enjoying the view.

    Musical Notes

    Around the bridge and in the water you'll find 13 Notes.
    Collect 9 Notes on the path leading from the bull's platue to Ticker's Tower.
    14 Notes wait on the stone formation.
    21 Notes surrond the Yellow Jinjo on the sloping mountain.
    A circle of 6 Notes is inside Ticker's Tower.
    There is a Note on top of each of the 6 huts, and 5 in the first on you smash.
    4 in Mumbo's Skull.
    The last 18 are on the slope between the exit and Mumbo's area.

    The Witch Switch

    In Conga's area, from Bottles, go left, hop up the platforms, and use the Beak Buster on the Witch Switch on the top platform. A Jigsaw Piece will appear on top of the entrance to Mumbo's Mountain in Grunty's Lair. You must turn into a termite to get to it though, so hit this switch before you get Mumbo to change you so you don't have to make as many trips back and forth.

    Extra Honeycomb Pieces

    To get the first Extra Honeycomb Piece, Flap Flip onto Juju when he's down to one head, then Flap Flip again for your Honeycomb.
    The second is on a alcove notching into the rock above the lake.

    Mumbo Tokens

    Find the first Mumbo Token behind the rock with the Pink Jinjo.
    Another awaits under the ramp leading to Mumbo's Skull.
    One is inside Ticker's Tower, on a slope flat enough to Talon Trot on.
    Under the stone formation is a fourth.
    The final is on a rock to the left of, and above, the Bottles that teaches you how to use Eggs.

    Extra Lives

    Collect one when you reach the top of Ticker's Tower.
    One is in the 5th of Mumbo's huts you smash.

    Beehives

    Three honeycombs in a hive awit to the right of Mumbo's Skull.
    Across the bridge, a Beehive is one the rock near the bull.

    A Message From Grunty

    Now you've done it! You've crossed the line. You've entered the first world of mine.
    You'll meet Mumbo here, whose magic I've never dreaded. Like skull boy himself, his spells are boneheaded.
    His magic's far from good, as everyone knows. I conjure up better things out of my nose!
    So, leave here, before I get cranky, and excuse me while I go grab a hanky.
