-Ways to improve your nerf arsenal, and gun ideas & concepts-

First off, let me say this backround is not stolen, nor are any other backrounds on Patrick's Nerf Page. Here are ways to modify your nerf guns, plain & simple. If you have any mods or concept guns you don't see here, please e-mail me!

-From Thomas Maier-Dart mod

Hey. While staying up VERY late one night I got the crazy idea that if I cut a normal NERF dart to the length of a LARAMI dart that it would work in my LARAMI guns. So I got a normal NERF dart and cut it down to about 2 1/4 inches in length and attempted to shove it in my Super Maxx 500. I discovered that the big rubber tip made it not fit. So I cut the suction cup off the tip and trimmed the ruber around the edjes so it was like a stinger but with a little rubber on the tip. Then I shoved it in and fired. It did not work in my Super Maxx guns AT ALL! I was disappointed but with a glint of hope stuck it in my Cross Bow. Fired. WOW!!! It worked great!!! I shoved it in my Super Maxx 5000 (the NERF kind) and fired. KRACKAPOW! IT FLEW 2X as far as a normal dart! It is great. *note: For some reason it dosent work really well in allot of NERF guns. But is great in NERF sniper Rifles! "The point of a war is not to die for your contry, but to make the other poor bastard die for his." -General C. Patton

-From Stephan's Nerf Page-Crossbow Mod-

Open up your crossbow.
Pull out the barrel, plunger, and the hose that connects them.
Take that stupid spring out of the middle of the hose.
Go to a hardware stores and buy two of the smallest hose clamps they sell.
Cut a piece of the hose so that it just fits over both of the sections of the barrel and plunger tube.
Put the hose on one end, slip the hose clamps on, and attach the other end of the hose.
Tighten the hose clamps to both of the pipes - this will allow NO air to get out, and won't ever let the tubes separate.
Run the barrel through the front of the gun now, where that stupid yellow thing used to be. You'll notice that the barrel comes out crooked. Blah, you'll also notice that the darts don't seem to follow the barrel angle, they fire the same direction as the plunger is firing (straight ahead). Wierd, huh?
Now in the top where the barrel used to be, stick a laser pointer pen is you have one, or create your own ammo holder. Whatever.

-From MWard@Javanet.com -Bow & Arrow Mod-

Saw off the end (the last 3/4" or so) of the firing tube and (as with the crossbow) saw off the bow part, leaving a hole for a strap (or even better, don't even put on) the bow parts.take one string and cut it at the handle. take the other and tie it to the hole and you have a weapon that shoots 45+ feet easily, and fires darts (though only 30+ feet). It works almost as well as a modified crossbow, and you don't have to shell out another 20 bucks for one.

-Chainblazer-

After repeated use, no matter what you do, shavings of the plastic from the Chainblazer's firing handle will build up along it's track. These shavings are one of the main causes of weapon malfunction. To get rid of these shavings, just take your fingernail and scrape it along the shavings and they will fall off. To totaly eliminate this problem, once and for all, take an exacto knife and cut away a small bit (like a mm or two) of the plastic off the firing handle around the track. This will make the handle flow much smoother when firing and eliminate the problem of plastic shavings. After all of the shavings are taken care of, use some WD-40, or Vaseline to lubricate the firing handle. You can also use the spring enlargment technique discussed in Basic Modidication techniques. I just discovered this new technique how to make the Chainblazer shoot farther, without the hassle of opening up the entire gun. In fact, this modification dosen't even involve touching the gun, it is a chain modification. All you need to do is take an electric drill and the approiate drill bit, and enlarge the hole on the back of each dart holder to the size of the hole on a dart.

-Eagle Eye-

This is a great way to add more range to the Eagle Eye. It can be done without opening it up. First, look to the side inside the barrel, you'll see a hole. If you can, put some tape over it from the inside. If not, you'll have to open it. I opened mine, put some tape on, and drilled a hole to the same size as the dart. I then stretched the spring, and set it back in place. I get an extra 10+ feet on good darts. I also put the gun on it's side and put some glue into the hole where the tape was (if you opened it up). I then smoothed it out with the barrel.

The RazorBeast would have been a good weapon if it did not skip and jam so much, and if the chain would stay together. The following will help if you own one and are going to throw it out anyway

1. Glue the ends of the chain together with rubber cement. This will help prevent them from falling apart all the time.

2. Put tape around the base of all the bullets. This will give them more distance and prevent them from falling out of the chain so easily.

3. Remove the top grip on the gun (it's useless anyway) and run your finger along the side of the chain. This will help keep the chain in the proper position.

. Full Custom Band and Barrel Job On The SHARPSHOOTER II - In light of recent advances in Nerf weapon modification technology, I have decided to adopt the barrel job from Nerf HQ instead of my old idea. You only need one gun to do this. After opening the gun up and saving the screws and making sure you don't lose any parts. Get an electric drill. Notice the size of the hole in your darts. Now CAREFULLY drill the hole in the back of the barrel to the SAME SIZE as the hole in the dart. Don't make it bigger than the darts hole. Blow all of the plastic dust and other stuff out. Then look over the barrels for small holes, if you see any, patch them up with tape. While the gun is opened up, go ahead and stretch the main spring. Then proceed to put everything back in place and put the cover back on. This is EXTREMELY difficult in a SHARPSHOOTER II, but it can be done. Test the gun to make sure everything works right. Now were ready to use the bands.

On a SHARPSHOOTER II we will use several large size bands, if you have several large size bands, than put them on as described in the Single Band Method, and just repeat it for each band. If you only have ordinary size rubber bands, read on. You may need to use four normal size bands instead of three for this gun. If that is the case, you won't have a center band, just four bands connected to each other by bending one in half around the other, and passing the other bands through the ends of each band, so that all the bands are bent in half. If you only need three, refer to the Multiple Band Method section and read on. After the bands are looped together, slide the string of bands through the eye of the handle, and both ends of each side, loop around the bottom barrel.

SuperSoker 105 conversion This is probably my best modification. All you will need is a 3/4" PVC pipe and lots of duck tape and a SuperSoaker 105. First you need to unscrew the red nozzle. This allows one big burst of air to be realeased all at once. Next take your pipe and duck tape it to the front of the gun. Then all that is left to do is go and shoot something with it. (Warning this weapon left a bruse on my friend when I shot him from 10' away).

Lock 'n' Load For this modification all you do is unscrew the green part. All it really does is makes the gun smaller. You might want to get a key ring to help pull it back. The gun looks better with the green part on. I have not found a really good use of this modification.

Secret Shot II mod by Phil Selman

The Secret Shot II is one of the new pump air powered Nerf dart guns that recently hit the market. I have only just started amusing myself in theworld of foam combat and know virtually nothing about modifying guns. Ipurchased my new vessel of destruction al my local Toys'r'us toy store fora mere $10.00 and proceeded happily trying it out. I was crushed. Theblasted thing only shot a meager twenty feet when properly coaxed. In veinI searched for hours from web page to web page looking for modificationspecs. Alas there were none. Then I got a bright idea. I opened the gun up, removed something here, drilled a hole here, added something there and would you know it, I hadtransformed an awkward air pump hand gun, into a mid range powerful sniperpistol. And here good gentles, is my method.

Tools for this metamorphosis

1) A screwdriver (small, Phillip's head)

2) An electric drill.

3) Regular green garden hose

4) Metal/PVC piping that fits tightly around garden hose.

5) Powerful adhesive. (I recommend "the welder" for this and everythingand swear by it; otherwise epoxy works too.)

6) Pipe cutter or hacksaw

.Instructions. (Part one: Making the air pump more effective.)1) Look at gun in disgust.2) Remove and save all of the screws.3) Remove interior screw4) Remove everything inside - the pump, reservoir, trigger, and thataccursed secret shot. - noting exactly how it was assembled.5) Throw secret shot and lever into the trash.6) CAREFULLY remove the clear plastic hose from the yellow pump mechanism.7) Expand the hole in the yellow pump to twice its original size.8) CAREFULLY reassemble gun internally as it was before step 4.(Part two: the sniper barrel)9) Cut piping/tubing to desired length (I recommend one half foot)10) Cut garden hose one inch longer then the piping/tubing (be sure tokeep both ends as level as possible)11) Slide garden hose into piping/tubing all the way to the end, with oneinch of the hose sticking out one side.12) Insert your new barrel into the opening of the re-assembled gun.13) Glue firmly into place. This in optional because the hose shouldn'tbe able to slip out with out some force, but I like it this way.14) Wait for it to dry, the marvel at how effective your new sniperpistol is.

I hope this will be as useful to others as it was to me.
