Ruby Dragons are the least social of all dragons due to their almost complete isolation from other intelligent beings. Their only contact with humanoids is from stealing treasure. Do not judge them though, they will with no hesitation stop to help a good person in need. They are very wise, but nearly as philosophical as Gold Dragons. At birth Ruby Dragons look very much like Red Dragons, but as they age their scales become a bright crimson red and very glossy. Ruby Dragons speak the language of all Gem Dragons, and those of Cloud, Mountain, Frost, and Fire Giants. 10% of hatchling Ruby Dragons have the ability to communicate with any intelligent creature. This ability improves 5% per age category.

Combat: Ruby Dragons are tremendously over-confident and always make their persence known before battle. A Ruby Dragon uses it's breath weapon since it is so over-confident, and the fear that it mignt destroy any treasue the victim might have. It will only use it when near-death.

Breath Weapon/Special Abilities: A Ruby Dragon's breath weapon is a thick, billowing cloud of red hot ash and firery cloud of exploding gas in a 50m by 10m by 10m cloud. Anyone caught in the could will die from inhalation in1d4 rounds. All characters are considered blind while in the cloud, any once in it have to wash their eyes for 1 round before being able to see again. Save vs. breath weapon for half damage. Like all Gem Dragons the Ruby uses Pscionics instead of spells. They are immune to gas, poison, suffocaton, fire, and blindness. As they age they gain the following abilities. Adult: Flame Arrow (3 Arrows once a day), Wyrm: Detect Gems 100' radius once a day.

Habitat/Society: They dig out caves in active volcanoes, where they feel they are in their environment and where their treasure is totally safe. These Dragons are not very good parents, because they are too greedy and too anti-social. Their young usually leqave the nest at the very young stage. They are in constant battle with their"look alikes" the Red Dragons. They often ally themselves with many other good and neutral dragons because almost every living thing respects them.

Ecology: Ruby dragons, love to eat gems, gold, and an occosional giant. Almost every part of the dragon can be used for some reason. From the traditional dragon armor, to their blood being used as a part of a Potion of Fire Resistance.
