Weregators are physically very powerful (strength 18) in either full or hybrid form. About 90% of these creatures are Rhennee, and natives of the Mistmarsh, as they seldom leave any travelers alive to spread the disease elsewhere. Most weregators tend to hunt animal prey, shunning the taste for human blood unless pressed. In addition, weregators do not like to attack prey on shorelines, preferring instead to find their lunch on the water.
Combat: Weregators prefer to lie and wait for their prey, poking their eyes just above the water's surface to observe, allowing them to be virtually invisible (-2 on opponents surprise roll). They prefer to attack with their powerful jaws, causing 3d4 points of damage, or lash with their tail, causing 1-12. Weregators shun cold, for they become sluggish (50% reduction in movement rate) below 40 degrees.
Habitat/Society: Although weregators congregate in large numbers, it is simply to allow one gator to kill the food, while the others try to grab a bite. It is likely that any city near a swamp will have a group of these beasts living in their sewers - including Greyhawk.
Ecology: Weregators are hunted by wizards who are knowledgeable in the creation of magical clothing made from their leathery hide. Weregators do not lay eggs.
