TPA-01 Triton Tactical Power Armour
RPG Stats and Background by: Rick R. Mortis.

Technical Info from the Robotech Technical Files, by Robert Morgenstern.

BACKGROUND

To provide the Marsh Division with some heavier firepower that was not limited by the treacherous terrain in which they operated, the Triton was designed to be flexible, multi-role armour for infiltration/assassination missions. The suit was designed to operate in small numbers without support. To support the multi-role capability, a number of reconfigurable modules were developed based on the mission desired. Sniper, Assault, and Lake Superiority modules were developed.

The Sniper configuration allowed small squads to patrol large areas of marsh land and to intimidate any insurgents from causing sufficient problems for the regional governments. The Assault configuration is the standard heavy attack module used by the Triton. This provides respectable firepower for such a small platform, although the weapon systems made the armour bulky to manoeuvre. The Lake Superiority configuration was used by the Marsh Division for lake, river and swampland patrolling.

The Triton was only produced in very limited numbers by the ASC. Many survived the Second Robotech War, and were used by freedom fighters against the invid. Their small size and comparitively high firepower made them a particular faveourite.

The Triton’s modular design allows it to carry several different weapons packages, which are outlined below.

    1. GU-21 Recoiless Rifle. The Triton’s sole weapon in this configuration is a large, shoulder-mounted bazooka-like rifle.

    Assault Configuration

    1. Tripple-Barreled 25mm Autocannon. Hand-held by the mecha, this weapon is a rifle version of the Flagga's autocannon.
    2. Mini-Missile Launcher. The Triton has a single mini-missile launcher on the shoulder.

    Lake Superiority Configuration

    1. Mini-Torpedo Launcher. The Triton a torpedo launcher mounted on the right shoulder. The Torpedoes an only be fired underwater.
    2. Mine Rack. The Triton can also launch mines that can be attached to ships, or left in the water to explode later. The mines can be set to a timer (one hour maximum) or to explode on contact.
    3. Optional use of a hand weapon. In this configuration, the Triton can also use any type of ASC handgun or rifle in this configuration. Typically, it uses the LR-30 rifle.

  • Hand to Hand Combat. Rather than use any weapons, the Triton can opt to engage in hand to hand combat.

    Conversion Notes

This mecha was completely omitted from the RPG. This is not surprising, as the only info on it in This Is Animation #10 is a line in the descriotion of the Tatical Corps Marsh Division stating "the mecha of the Marsh Division is the Triton". No data or pictures of it are known to exist. The info here is pure peculation.
