Never Mind
by Wee One Amicitia, 12/98

You wake up at noon and realize you’re late for school,
But the day’s already started and you’ve been marked absent.
Then you realize you’re swimming in a pool
And a fish is asking you to pay the monthly rent.
You give him eighteen cents and he swims away
Then jumps out of the pool and turns into a snail.
The pool wall curves to form a bay,
And you’re being thrown out of the pool by a whale.
You run into town and start to rob a bank,
But then you decide to hug everyone in the crowd.
Three army brigades ride up in a tank.
They say, “Go ahead and rob, but hugging’s not allowed.”
So they take you away and put you in jail,
Lock you in a cell with a lifetime supply of cheese.
A prison guard tries to put you up for sale,
But the jail disappears when suddenly you sneeze.
Then you’re floating through space and you notice it’s not black:
It’s orange, and there’s not a star in the sky.
Then you just happen to step on a tack.
You jump (in space?) and it feels like you can fly.
You break through the sky and turn around
And you see you were trapped inside a giant orange rind.
You’re surrounded by people yelling but you can’t hear a sound,
And then all of a sudden you start to - oh, never mind.
