Moonlight danced freely on
the surface of her pale skin, as she tasted a cruel coldness from winter
gently brushing her visage, and blowing a few smooth strands of her turquoise
hair. With a half empty glass of red wine on her right hand, she stood
so perfectly graceful facing one of the opened windows in Maximoff Castle.
He couldn't help not to be stunned by that mesmerizing sight in front of him. No matter how much he wanted that dumb title to be the supreme ruler of Makai, there's nothing such as a prevention to give any kinds of barriers for his feeling towards her. In his deepest honesty, he was most likely to wed her than to own her… but can it be so? Will she accept it anyway?
Playing with the leftover red liquid on his own glass, and by leaning his firm back on a cold surface of the stone wall, while bowing his head down, Demitri Maximoff finally let out a few words,
"More wine?" He asked her, feeling the same cold and sharp wind of a Romanian winter through the same window. She didn't answer right away, he waited still as a mischievous smile formed slowly on his bold lips and a sip of the wine got taken in. Demitri also didn't look at her even for a glance as she started to gesture her head, ready for an answer. Very calm and careful,
"No…thank you…" She replied in a monotone voice, "Mine's not finished yet…"
"Is it?"
Morrigan Aenslaed turned around eventually to face him, her clear, cyan eyes probed his leaning figure at a proper distance over there. She found herself quite surprised actually, for she never seen him so…fragile… and defenseless.
"Are you all right?" the succubus asked worriedly, putting down her glass on the floor as she lifted a small part of her bell gown and approached him in fasten steps. Before she got anymore closer, Demitri's left hand made a stop sign.
"Just… weak, that's all…" Demitri answered, finally lifted his head, and saw her full face looking at him will mixed emotions. The vampire smiled again, he even chuckled afterwards, and Morrigan creased an eyebrow with the look of being offended surfaced to her expression.
"What's so funny?" She asked again, a little bit puzzled now. He then stopped his chuckle after a few struggles to do more, leaving smiles all over. Looking straight at her, Demitri answered,
"Ironic…" He said briefly.
"What is?"
"You and me, Morrigan…"
"I beg your pardon?"
"Us… Our relationship…" He clarified the meaning of his answer with a more sharp tone on his voice. No more smiles forming on the face, but just an expression of pity… and regret. She took the underlined sentence as clear as crystal.
Morrigan looked down to the dark floor sadly… Demitri could swear that he saw sparkles of tears forming on her beautiful eyes. He later found out that he's right… as they flowed down to her cheeks.
"Stop talking like this, Demitri." She ordered him with a slight of frustration on her trembling voice, "It's confusing me…and I don't like--"
The traces of his fingers brushed one of her wet cheeks by the most gentle of touch, stopping her sentence almost in the middle of it. Demitri dropped his glass on to the floor, letting it shattered like dusts, as he didn't care anymore. Winds of the present Romanian winter came back at them, coldness wrapped each beings closer as one, he cupped her face, taking the delight of getting that stunning eyes in his close sight…
"I'm sorry…" He whispered an apology to Morrigan, putting his forehead and hers against each other, she sniffed a few short sobs afterwards, trying to regain control again over herself, "Shhh… I'm so sorry…" Demitri continued his apologies.
Morrigan put her hands on his, pressing it deeper to both sides of her cheeks, feeling his warmth on her smooth skin, contrasting to the cold, freezing atmosphere that bounded them together. Was it snowing already? She could almost feel a trace of cold dampness showering her hair…
"Listen…" she said, pulling away from him.
"Hmm?"
"Why don't you figure out another way to…redeem this fault of yours?"
"Oh?" Demitri smiled, but then an expression of shock occur, a diamond dust of snow landed on his left cheek as he slowly released her and look around the vast room they're both into, "Snow…" the vampire murmured.
"…Snow…" Morrigan followed to the amazement, after both beings witnessed the place they're standing on, stayed in, suddenly coloured in blurred whiteness of the magnificent snow. The winds got more violent, and Morrigan heard another small crash behind her, as she turned around, she found out that it was her glass that broke down.
The coldness was so fierce, that the wines that spilled from each broken glass froze as well. Demitri and Morrigan hugged each other again, tighter this time, and smiles were with them all the way…
"You were saying, my dear?" Demitri asked in a more seductive tone, Morrigan grinned at him, and put a light kiss on his lips, "That was nice…"
"Just promise me…" She said again, pulling him closer.
"Yes?"
"Promise me never to mention us being so ironic, ever…again…"
Demitri laughed out loud, coming directly from his heart, he took her face again, and they kissed for the second time, more deep and longer than before… much longer. After they broke their lips' contact…
"I Promise, my queen…" Demitri finally let out, "I promise…" and he meant it.
--End-- (I think…)
