Name: Mercator
Author: M. Slager
Author's Email: mpslager@csclub.uwaterloo.ca
AKA: Mercator The Equator
Affiliation: Amichanian
Appearance: Mercator The Equator (it's a pun. Trust me) is 6 feet 1.78394
inches tall, and of undisclosed wait (although some might say
somewhat over 200lbs). His face is adorned with sparkling blue
eyes, topped off with light brown hair. Despite wearing contact
lenses, his eyesight is still sufficiently flawed that he has a
hard time making out details of items at a distance. (He once
bought an Ami-chan doll at the local anime-midnight-madness sale,
only to return home and discover that he was holding a breadstick
covered in a blueish mold...) His attire usually consists of
nothing more than bluejeans and a t-shirt; he has no sense of
fashion. Oh yeah, did I mention the neural computer interface
in the side of his skull?
Personality: Mercator is a highly proficient mathematician, with strong
interests in the field of Computer Science. Often called a
technocrat, he often holds unlike personalities in disdain or
contempt. Unfortunately, he has virtually no short term memory,
and his "undivided attention" is usually a result of him trying
to remember who the heck you are anyways. He believes that all
things in the universe are interconnected, socially,
mathematically, and politically. Despite all this, he can
easily get along with many people, and is an excellent public
speaker and debater. All of this is of course a ploy to cover
his true allegiance to a super secret conspiracy so devious that
if you knew what it was it would send shivers down your spine.
Unfortunately he seems to have forgotten some of the details of
this conspiracy: Namely all of them. But he's certain the
conspiracy is devious, as all such conspiracies are, so it only
logically follows.... His neural implant in the side of his
head is a result of his superb ability to integrate and interoperate
with all devices of a computing nature. Unfortunately, his
attempts to get the interface standardised failed, and he is
limited to only interfacing with systems using some form of Linux.
If he accidentally interfaces with a certain limited GUI OS (you
know which one I mean...), the result is unpredictable.
Objectives: He had one, but he forgot what it was.
Weapons/Powers: [Un]fortunately, his personality is often more than enough to
get him into, and in rare occasions out of, trouble. He used to
have a REALLY cool weapon. One with all the bells and whistles.
But he forgot where he put it. Occasionally he'll stumble across
it, but generally forgets how to use it, resulting in even more
trouble.
Allies: He remembers an old cape wearing acquaintance. But the details
are sketchy.
Enemies: Chibi, and all related persons thereof. The name itself sends
shivers down his spine, and the thought of meeting her is enough
to send him running away in terror. Of coures, anyone not a
supporter of Ami too.
Other Notes: He likes Ami, but can't quite remember why. He doesn't care
though, since it must have been a VERY important reason, otherwise
he would never have signed up in the first place, right? Thus he
will fight to the near-death (I didn't say he was an all-out sort
of guy :) ) to defend her faith. Besides, she looks like the sort
that likes Math...
