The Night
the vast blue sky darkens
as the sun slowly sets
and stains the sky with dusk
the creatures of day hearken
as the moon busily begets
the sounds and passions of lust
the shadows, once slaves
to the light of day
cry their festive cries of freedom
darkness, in tenacious waves
the cold earth it does pay
and lay's the night's kingdom
the night is dark
the night is black
once you enter you can't turn back
it grabs you tightly
and traps you in
you plead for help
but your voice is thin
you try to escape
but there's nowhere to run
you begin to wonder
if you'll ever see the sun
but see you cannot
nor hear
nor feel
then your skin slowly
begins to peel
and fade out of sight
and yet another victim
becomes one with the night
