Background:
"PERSONA 2 - Innocent Sin" is the sequel to PERSONA (95), which are part of the famous long-running Japanese RPG series "Goddess Reincarnation" (Megami Tensei). Unlike most other fantasy-oriented RPGs, the series is known for its dark, demonic cyber world setting in modern days. The PERSONA serie is a spin-off target to a younger audience with its highschool background, simplify & interesting battle systems and tone-down difficulty. It tends to focus more on storyline and character's development. One common feature of this series is communicating and summoning demons while exploring 3D dungeons. People familiar with Tarot cards and Mythologies (Greek/Norse/Hindu) would have fun finding references throughout the game.

Story:
The story set in Sumaru City. It started out with a strange curse occured at main character's school, which is caused by a mysterious avengful figure called "Joker," who used the power of "rumor" to control the reality. The stories then took off to an ugly forgotten past between the Main characters and Joker, also the revival of the Third Reich and an ancient Aztec mystery.....

Official Guide book:
Persona 2 Official Masters Guide
ISBN: 4-7572-0498-1
This one has Joker on cover. It was released earlier, so it's like a intro type of book with necessary basic info, data, maps and walkthru. It has nicer/bigger illustrations.

Persona 2 Official Guide Book Complete Version
ISBN: 4-7572-0537-6
This one released much later, obviously it's a FINALIZE version that contains ALL secrets, ALL kinds of data (including hidden stuffs). It also include very detailed character profiles (set-up info that were not mentioned in game). It has very little illustrations. Also some interviews with the producer and designer.

Get both if you want all complete data and nicer illustrations.

Also there's a "fan/Guide" book released, called Persona Club II: Innocent Sin World". You can check out its info and sample pages Here. It has plenty of Kaneko-sama's illustrations and "secret" data (whatever that is), plus fanart. It has walkthru too. But mainly it's a fun book focus more on characters and analyzing the game.

Comments:
Persona 2 is one of my top favorite RPGs of all time. This is one of the few RPG that is truely enjoytable and interesting ALL the way (no frustration or boredom). The likable characters, unique worldview, humor, VERY interesting battle system and heart-wrenching story are all close-to perfect for me. I enjoyed PERSONA 2 much more than the 1st. Here're some of good points I prefer:

- You can see the character running in dungeon instead of the first person view which made me dizzy and lost in P1.
- The battle system is simplified; you won't have the annoying "back-row people can't reach the enemies" anymore, because the characters "approach" next to the enemies when attack and STAY there
- You can save the game at most time (very important when lost in dungeon and prevent players getting frustrated)
- The characters are better looking, dressed and more interesting (subjective)
- The Cityscape view is much more organized and easy access than the 3D dizzy maze mode. The shops banners are very cute~~
- The devils-contacting and card-collecting part is improved: you have highest chances to get the cards and you collected LOTS of them (instead of hard to get few cards).
- The music and graphics are just perfect. There're even more funny drug store theme songs and each stores are beautifully / realisticly presented.

The possible complaint I have is that the bosses are a bit easy overall. Well, less challenge and more pure fun, that's good!! Another possible complaint would be lesser characters to use, well...it doesn't take a large cast to tell a great story and definitely not everyone in P1 are likable.

About this site:
This is the FIRST time I make a website on video games. It's meant to be just a FAN site, I don't have any ambition to make it VERY useful or contains COMPLETE data. So please excuse me if you find this page useless since it's not very data/info oriented, because this is basically JUST a FAN site I made for fun. I wrote everything from memory plus the help of the Guidebook. Please inform me when you catch a mistake and give me any suggestion. I'm sure some of the translations and info aren't exactly correct as well, so please point them out for me. Please please excuse any grammar mistake and bad sentences, I know my English is poor and I'm doing the best I can.

I love drawings so i decided to use my own drawings on the site. I drew all the pictures on this site myself, instead of putting up seperate fan art gallery, I make my drawings more useful in Characters's page. Please please please do NOT take any of the images on this site for own use on other page. They're all my own drawings and I only want them to be seen on my own page.

Also on translation notes: I tend to write out the meaning of the words instead in romanji form. I think it's quite tiring to read with bunch of complicated spelling romanji = foreign language, when the word might just simply mean something ordinary in English. I hope you'd know what I'm referring to. Of cousre I'd remain the specific term in romanji form (such as "Sushi", "Ramen" and names) . There're terms that can't be expressed in English, but I'd try my best to apply them for easy reading (and my typing)'s sake. ^__^
