Who Knows Weyr:Living Caverns(#144RJV$)
Carved from volcanic rock, the high vaulted ceilings of the living caverns still manages to retain the heat it once knew. Odd patterns decorate the wall where seams of lava once ran and bubbles, that cooled and popped, create nooks and crannies which are dotted with useful items. Various tapestries of past Weyrwomen regale the walls, softening them in colours of muted cornelian-reds and brimstone-yellows. Clattering dishes and chattering weyrfolk fill the air with sound and there's hardly an hour when the smell of food doesn't waft temptingly out of the kitchens. The large room is filled with tables, and habit dictates that one is reserved for the leaders of the Weyr, others for riders, staff, residents, though often people gather together companionably. Klah and juice pitchers are scattered about the room, whilst a few tables hold snack food. More substantial meals can be found in the kitchens, which lies through two swinging doors, almost constantly in use. Two carved arches are set across the cavern from each other, one leading out to the bowl, the other inwards towards the inner caverns.

Bowl Kitchen Inner Caverns

Elenna is sitting in a corner, sewing, looking up occasionally. She's in a fairly dim corner of the room. She appears to be watching the exits. Blink. This is someone new. But at least it's not Khav.

Kairiss walks in backwards from the bowl, toting two wineskins and waving at someone, it seems... "Thanks for the ride, G'lass..." He calls cheerily. The poor Vintnercrafter ought to learn not to walk backwards, though... He trips over a bench, ladning flat on his bum. "Oof..." At least those 'skins are okay...

Elenna seems to have nothing better to do than watch Vitners walk through the caverns, and fall, and whatever else they choose to do at any given time. She just watches for now, sewing still in her hands. She doesn't seem particularly interested in calling attention to herself although, hrm... wine.

Kairiss frowns faintly as he rises to his feet, craning his neck to see if anybody was looking.. Shards, someone saw... He reaches down to pick up those wineskins, then does a double take, peering carefully at Elenna. Those sapphire eyes light up as he flashes as charming a smile as he can manage before strolling in her direction. "..Good Even."

Elenna blinks. Right, she was supposed to be incognito, still, as she's hardly been rude she says "Hello," quietly. And as she seems to be designated WKW greeting person. "Can I help you?"

Kairiss shakes his head, giving a crooked grin before sliding into a seat across from her. "Perhaps... I was sent to deliver some of my latest...creations, for you fine people at Who Knows Weyr to enjoy." He smiles charmingly again, holding up one of those 'skins. "Would you like some...? ..I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. Mine is Kairiss..."

Elenna ers, "I can show you where to put them," she offers quietly. Blush, oh look she did it again. "Elenna," she supplies, and then, as though he couldn't tell by the knot on her shoulder. "I'm a journeyman baker here." Her eyes spark with interest "Red or white?"

Kairiss offers another crooked grin, noting, "Actually, I'd rather relax and have a glass before putting it away... Would you care to join me?" That grin twitches into yet another smile. "Baker? Perhaps you've made something that would go with this?" He holds up the other 'skin, adding, "It's a sweet red... The vintage was grown last summer at Telgar Hold... Well aged."

Elenna ohs. "Um... sure," it would appear she's rather taken aback. "What would you recommend? There's some muffins left over from dessert, or," frown "no, that wouldn't do. A sweet red? Well, there's always the klahcake that wasn't used."

Kairiss's shoulders rise in a shrug. "Muffins could be nice.. What flavor?" He blinks suddenly, frowning with faint confusion. "Wasn't used?"

Elenna ers "We always make more than we need, just in case of," she smiles faintly "visitors, and the muffins are apple cinnamon. I made them."

Kairiss smiles brightly. "Apple cinnamon? Fabulous." He frowns faintly noting, "I've only ever been to this Weyr once... Perhaps after we have our wine you would be kind enough to show me around?"

Elenna ohs. "Sure..." getting up. "I was born here," she notes. "So anywhere you want to see..." she disappears into the kitchen returning with a tray of muffins, and then, as she passes the serving table, grabs a pair of wine glasses, bringing the lot back. She offers the wine glasses to him. "I'll try your wine if you try my muffins," she promises with another faint smile.

Kairiss shrugs again, "I hear you've a lovely beach here..." He smiles warmly, reaching for a muffin after filling both glasses with the crimson liquid. After taking a bite he washes is down with the wine. "...Delicious... They taste wonderful with this wine..."

Elenna takes a sip. "This is very good. You made it?" she looks impressed. "The beach," she colours faintly. "Yes, it's lovely, although pretty well covered in snow just now. Of course, if you like snow" shrug... "they do go well together," after taking a nibble of her own muffin.

Kairiss laughs lightly. "I love snow... I've missed it in my turns at No Weyr.." After a moment he adds, "I'm from Telgar Weyr, originally."

Elenna ohs? "I've never been there," with some interest, and taking another sip of the wine. "Well, in fact," with a rueful shrug "there's a lot of places I haven't been."

Kairiss grins. "Telgar is lovely... I really ought to go for a visit soon..." He frowns faintly, "I'm sorry for that... I love travelling. I don't think I'd be happy if I had to stay in the same place for too long..." He downs his currently glass then chuckles lightly, noting, "We'd best save some for the others... So, how about that tour?" He flashes another one of those charming smiles at the baker.

Elenna blinks, now this time, she did catch the smile. She turns an awfully red shade, but then, a barely audible comment from one of the lower caverns girls in the background catches her ear. There's definately the word "Kh'vil" in there somewhere. She straightens her shoulders a little. "Sure, we could take the wine along with us if you like," standing.

Kairiss just smiles at that blush, and ignores any comments.. He's learned not to listen to any of that... gossip stuff. "Only if you want to... /I/ have plenty back at No."

Elenna shrugs. "Why not?" reaching for the skin, and staring rather challengingly at the gossiper. "Where would you like to see first?"

Kaelys walks out from the inner caverns.
Kaelys has arrived.

Kairiss grins broadly, "If you'd like..." He chuckles again, rising from his seat. "..Lead the way."

S'val walks out from the inner caverns.
S'val has arrived.

Kaelys saunters into the cavern on the arm of her weyrmate. She smiles at Elenna when spotting her, and looks curiously at the stranger.

Elenna blinks. "Where?" picking up the wine glasses. "Oh," blink "Hello Kaelys, S'val."

S'val nods to Elenna, his glance giving her a quick look-over before turning to the stranger with a look similar to Kaelys's. "Evening."

Kaelys turns her smile on Kairiss. "Who is your companion, Elenna?" She inquires as she carefully extracts her hand from where she held it upon S'val's arm.

Elenna ums, she looks a little uncomfortable, but then, a glance lower cavern girl-wards and then "Kairiss, he's a vitner from No."

Kaelys nods and says "Well come to the Weyr then Vitner." She says, "What brings you from No?" Her blue-silver gaze studies him intently.

Kairiss just shrugs. "Wherever you'd like." He glances at the entering dragonriders and smiles pleasantly. "Good eve." After a moment he remembers his manners and offers his palm to the goldrider. "Well met... Elenna here was just going to show me around your fine Weyr... It's one of the few on Pern I rarely visit." At her question he grins, nodding to the wineskin in Elenna's hand. "Deliveries."

Elenna nods. "Yes," she agrees to Kairiss' comment about the tour. "This is S'val, Endivth's lifemate, and Kaelys, Coryth's lifemate," she mentions rather belatedly.

S'val inclines his head, seeming to prefer to stay mostly silent while the women talk.

Kairiss clears his throat, smiling brightly at Elenna before turning back to the gold and bronzerider. "Well, it was nice meeting you both, but I should be heading back to No soon, and I really /would/ like to have a look at the Weyr.." He offers another charming smile before nonchalantly attempting to usher Elenna bowl-wards.

Elenna kinda lets herself get ushered, if she looks rather startled by the... enthusiasm shown by the vitner, it doesn't seem to translate into any other actions than maybe a lightening of her sombre mood. After all, she hasn't seen much of that lately.

Kaelys nods her head in understanding. "Of course." She says, and then she says "I hope you have a good trip back." She oozes politness and civilty. She then marches over to the serving table and meticulously searches out the pieces of fruit there for one nearly perfect.

Who Knows Weyr:Beach Cove

Elenna grasps for purchase amongst the grasses, as she wanders down the pathway from the bowl.
Elenna has arrived.

Elenna scrambles down. "You know, it's rather cold out here," she mentions, "let me show you somewhere warmer."

Elenna disappears from sight.
Elenna has left.

Who Knows Weyr:Behind the Waterfall
It looks like someone else has already found this small cave behind the waterfall -- carved wooden benches sit adjacent to cold walls that drip with moisture, moss clinging tentatively with outstretched fingers. A small bubble near the back of the cave looks out of place, but there's a stack of drying firewood in a scuttle next to it, the impression is this could be a source of warmth for people taking respite here, a naturally hewn chimney disappearing above. Water crashes down in an opaque sheet, covering the main entrance of the cave, though some water trickles into a small pool that constantly refreshes itself and during the daytime, diffused sunlight lightens the cave. A light spray of mist wisps its way around the tunnel that leads down the side of the waterfall and back to the beach, the rocks slippery with moss and treacherous to the unwary.

You run through the waterfall.

Elenna slips in. "Oh sorry, it's a little wet at first, but... she eases herself in. "There are a lot of caves here, I come here sometimes." she smiles shyly. "It's kind of my special place."

Kairiss blinks in surprise, peering around the cave... "...Amazing..." He smiles warmly, inching closer to her... To get away from all that water, really... "I'm flattered that you'd bring me here, then..." He grins sheepishly, correcting, "Well, that you trust me enough to bring me here."

Elenna wells a little awkwardly. "It's warmer in here, once you dry off, and..." shrug "I thought you wanted to see around here? Anyone can show you the other places here, but I'm the only one who knows these caves really well."

Kairiss smiles, nodding. "It's really facinating here..." He mutters softly, peering around. "This Weyr really is lovely.. Almost enough to make me want to transfer..." He smiles again, one hand absently reaching up to tug at the blue stone around his neck.

Elenna leans on a rock, stretching out, and says, rather unusually candidly. "I feel safe here," eyes travel to the stone "That's pretty."

Kairiss, for once, blushes faintly. "...It was a gift."

Elenna ohs, she frowns faintly at the ground. "A gift," for some reason, a tear forms in her eye.

Kairiss blinks in surprise, thinking at first that /maybe/ she's sitting a bit close to the water... Then, "Elenna, are you alright?"

Elenna shrugs. "Just," she sighs. "A gift," blush. "I'm sorry, I'm being silly, but things," and another tear forms in her eye "things have been awful for me lately, and here you are, looking for someone to show you around, and I'm being silly again, and..." tear trickles down her cheek.

Kairiss blinks again in surprise, shaking his head and managing as warm and gentle a smile as he can manage. "Gifts aren't things to be upset over... They're things to remember people by.." He sighs, twirling the narrow stone between his fingers. "...I got this on my twentieth turnday when I still lived at Telgar. Someone very special gave it to me... But..." He sighs heavily. "She got ill a turn later, though.. and..." Well, some things just don't need to be said. "I transfered to No Weyr, but I haven't taken this off since.."

Elenna looks up, eyes still gleaming wetly. "That's so sad," she says. "I'm really sorry. You must've really loved her," and this makes her feel bad too, by the crushed look on her face.

Kairiss smiles faintly. "Loved, yes... But, that's in the past. And life does go on.." He turns away, muttering, "I don't think I'd be able to survive if I didn't believe that..."

Elenna sighs. "Nobody ever loved me like that," she says... then flushes faintly, as though that was not meant to come out. "I hope you feel better now," she says awkwardly after a minute.

Kairiss smiles warmly bringing his knees to his chest as he watches Elenna. "I will never forget Kadya, but I have managed to put the sadness behind me." He frowns faintly, muttering, "I'm sorry, Elenna.. But I'm sure you will, someday..." He smiles again, adding, "Everyone has at least one true love.. You'll meet yours one day soon, I'll bet..."

Elenna flushes. "I didn't say I'd never loved anyone," after a minute, "just nobody's ever loved me."

Kairiss blinks, frowning confusedly. "...But, then..." Blink blink. "What do you mean?"

Elenna flushes "I'm just not the type of person that people fall in love with, or love, or whatever, is all. I love... loved him, he wasn't interest."

Kairiss smiles gently. "...I've been wondering... Why would a beautiful woman like you think that? ...And why would I beautiful woman like you be sitting alone in the caverns." He grins with faint amusement, shaking his head. "Then /he/ must be a wherryheaded idiot."

Elenna flushes and looks miserable. "Just..." sigh "there must be something wrong with me, and he was in love with someone else anyway, and she was... much nicer than me, so I guess I can't blame him. You know, I was pretty stupid to think he might."

Kairiss's lips curl downward into a frown. "You shouldn't think like that... If someone doesn't love you, that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you... It just means that he's not /the/ one..."

Elenna looks up, eyelashes framing those blue eyes. "I don't know, just... not even my parents loved me, and I thought... well I don't know, it seems silly now, but I didn't expect to feel so bad," and the blue eyes are wet with tears, "and I feel like such a fool."

Kairiss sighs, shaking his head. "You shouldn't, Elenna.. There's nothing foolish about being in love..." He grins suddenly, an effort to brighten the mood, it seems. He leans over, tipping her chin up with his hand. "..Maybe this will cheer you up?" He asks before planting a gentle kiss on her lips. *Smoocha*

Elenna looks awfully startled, so much so that she doesn't move, and after a minute, she moves away, face red as anything. "Oh," she says awkwardly, really not knowing how to deal with it.

Kairiss blushes faintly, noting, "...Just trying to get you to cheer up, Elenna... Look at the brighter side, you know?" He flashes that trademark charming smile of his.

Elenna flushes a little. "Did you," awkwardly "did you like kissing me?" well with that smile, it can't've been all /that/ bad.

Kairiss blinks in surprise... But recovers, grinning as he counters, "Did you like being kissed?"

Elenna wells. "I..." awkwardly "The only person who ever kissed me before was..." blush "I..." oh she's red now. "It was nice," she says after a moment.

Kairiss smiles warmly. "...Well, since you enjoyed it, then yes, I liked kissing you." He frowns faintly, shaking his head. "Only been kissed by one other person? ...These Who Knows men mustn't have good taste, then, if they aren't all falling over themselves around you...."

Elenna blushes bright red. "Just..." she says awkwardly. "Just..." she doesn't seem to know what to say. "I just don't affect people like that," rather lamely.

Kairiss blinks in surprise. "A sweet, beautiful girl like you?" And he looks and sounds sincerely surprised.

Elenna shrugs. "I'm just... not the kind of person people like that way." She looks awkward, she seems to be losing ground here, although how she managed to get here is anyone's guess. "Sometimes, sometimes I come here to get away from everything, and..." sigh.

Kairiss frowns faintly, urging her to finish -- "...And?"

Elenna shrugs "and not even my parents wanted me. Why would anyone else?"

Kairiss frowns darkly. "Parents don't always know best, Elenna... Besides..." He scoots closer, giving a comforting smile. "How /can/ anyone love you when you don't love yourself?"

Elenna flushes. "that's what everyone says," she mutters. "Just... right now, I feel so awful," she says miserably. "He just... he just said in front of the whole weyr that he didn't want me. In front of everyone!" she looks miserable.

Kairiss frowns. "Then he's a stupid, heartless creep, and you ought to just forget him, anyway..." He sighs, then, muttering, "...Well, I suppose that isn't the best idea..." He sighs again as he realizes -- "I've stayed too long, already.. I'd best return to No.." He rises to his feet, turning to leave... But stops suddenly, pulling off that cord and stone, and pulling it down over Elenna's head. "Here. I want you to wear this and remember that you /are/ a person who is worth loving..." He smiles warmly, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Cheer up, eh?"

Elenna flushes. "He's..." no she's out of exuses for him. "Thankyou," she says, and even, kisses him back, maybe aiming for the cheek, maybe, maybe that's where it lands.

Kairiss flushes faintly, too... "I know you just met me, Elenna, but I'd like to think that I'm your friend... Stop feeling so bad, and just think that...You may not have a love, but you /do/ have friends... And /they/ love you, though I suppose not in a romantic sense.." He frowns faintly, blushing as he mutters, "Well, I'm just babbling, now..."

Elenna smiles up, looking at the stone with some wonderment. "This is one of the kindest things anyone's ever done for me," she says.

Kairiss smiles warmly. "Just take care of it... Kadya would be glad for you to have it... As long as you take care of it..." He waves before heading back toward the beach. "Come visit me at No Weyr sometime..." And with that, he's gone...

Elenna looks at the blue stone for a while, just sitting there. And she does look a little cheered. "I will," she says quietly. Probably there's no hope of him hearing it.
