Keroon Hold -- Great Hall(#123RJMs)
A multitude of well-kept tables sit in semi-circular array, rows pulling inward from the outer reaches of the large room. At the very center of the innermost semicircle is the dias, the chairs set looking inward toward the hearth at the middle instead of out at the others. As with most large holds, the walls are marked with tapestries of local scenery, the blue sky and golden of plain marking the room just as much as the painting, just above the hearth, of the deceased Lord Holder. The exit to the main hallway is to one side of the arrangement, and the kitchen to the opposite -- like twin exits to a theater with the hearth being the stage. Contents:

Skye swoops around, looking for someone. Finally sees Halsian, and lands on the table in front of him, a scroll attatched to one of his legs.

Halsian raises an eyebrow as the firelizard lands before him. He looks around, searching for the owner, then seems to remember. "Ahh.. You're Lisinda's little one..." He doesn't appear to notice the scroll.

Skye chirps scoldingly at Halsian and jumps up on his hand. He chirps some more. Look Halsian, something to show you.

Jaaren has connected. Jaaren groans and lifts his head off the table where it feel last night. "What's that Sharding noise?" he asks. Someone has a sore head.

Aozora chirps almost angrily at the other blue. Hey, this is /his/ pet and he's not sharing with nobody! Halsian glares slightly at both. "Please, I've got a horrible headache." He looks up and waves idly to Jaaren. "'Lizards.. /Loud/ lizards."

Skye hops around. Look look. He nudges his leg with his snout. There's a message here, you. He chirps apologetically at the blue, explaining himself.

Jaaren frowns. There's a definate disadvantage to having firelizards, he's just discovered. "How do you make 'em stop?" he asks crossly.

Halsian shrugs at Jaaren. "I don't know.. I wish I did, though." He scowls a little at Skye, trying to shoo him away gently.

Skye chirps crossly at Halsian, and nudges at the scroll again. Look what I got you, silly human. He chitters some more to Aozora. The blue'll understand. Tell your pet will you?

Jaaren lifts his head. "I know what's good for this headache," he says, eyeing Skye and Aozora disgustedly, and he gets up and looks for another wineskin.

Halsian's amber eyes widen as he shakes his head at Jaaren. "No, no.. No more /please/." He sighs as Aozora starts nudging his hand toward the other blue. Hey stupid, it's for /you/.

Skye scolds disgustedly. How stupid can one human be? Look what's on my leg! He crawls further up Hal's arm, claws digging in as he tries to make a point here.

Jaaren frowns. "It'll make the headache go away," he says. But what's this? No wine around? Hrmph.

"Ouch!" Halsian exclaims, disentangling Sky's claws from his arm. Of course, as he does so he finally notices the message and takes it.

Skye chirps happily. Finally. He goes back to the table to wait. He's a very obedient firelizard. Obedient to Lisinda anyway... well sometimes.

Jaaren frowns. "What's that?" he asks. "I didn't know they could carry messages."

Skye chirrups scoldingly at Jaaren. He's met him before and /doesn't/ like him. Taste. That's what he has

Halsian raises his eyebrows as he reads the message. It doesn't take long, it's nice and short. "A message.. An important one. Please, excuse me Jaaren.." He says softly before quickly walking out of the great hall, Aozora in tow.

Jaaren walks to the Main Hallway. Jaaren has left.

Skye goes home. Skye has left.

Lisinda is sitting chatting with the masterhealer on a bench in the courtyard. She looks tired, but reasonably content, and she smiles brightly at Halsian as he arrives. A sort of congratulatory smile

Halsian waves to Lisinda as walks in, looking a tad confused. "Hello Lisinda, good to see you again! I got your message... What's wrong?"

Lisinda grins. "I don't believe you've met the new masterhealer yet have you?" she smiles, nodding towards Garen. "This is Masterhealer Garen, and he wanted to meet you, actually."

Halsian smiles at the master healer and extends his hand. "Well met, sir." His gaze travels back to Lisinda, "So there's nothing wrong?" He asks, concerned.

Garen smiles and rises at the journeyman's appearance. "You're Halsian?" he asks, more to be polite than actually for information. "No, there's nothing wrong, at least, nothing that we hope can't be fixed." He exchanges a smiling glance with Lisinda.

Lisinda smiles. "The masterhealer would like your help," she says.

Halsian raises his eyebrows, then looks to the masterhealer. "My help, sir? For what?"

Garen smiles and says "We seem to have had a small upheaval in the hall. It seems that Varon, I assume he probably taught you your herblore when you were an apprentice?" he looks at Halsian for confirmation before continuing.

Halsian nods slowly. "Yes.. He taught me from my arrival in the hall until I was posted at Keroon.." A whole day after walking the tables...

Garen nods. He thought so,"Well, it appears that he didn't take to kindly to not getting the masterhealer's job, and yesterday he announced his retirement. Effective immediately. He wasn't training anyone for the job, and it puts us in a bit of a spot."

Lisinda is grinning at Halsian, perhaps spoiling the surprise if he's looking.

Halsian isn't looking..Good thing, too, 'cause he likes surprises. "Oh? I'm sorry to hear about that. Do you want me to help you choose someone for the job?" For some reason, Hal's a bit dense today.. Wonder why...

Garen grins. "I certainly hope you can help us," he says, "but we've already made our selection."

Lisinda smiles to herself, and waits for it to dawn on Halsian.

Halsian frowns a bit, confused. "So what am I here for?"

Garen smiles. "I heard about the wonderful work you've been doing in the specialty," he sighs, "more it seems than some of the masters have achieved lately," then he brightens, "so I was wondering if you'd be interested in taking over the position?"

"Me?" Halsian is even /more/ confused, now. "But I'm just a journeyman.."

Garen grins. "Well, you were," he says slowly. "But earlier today, the masters and I had an emergency meeting about the situation, and... considering your exemplary record, and your volumous contribution to the craft, we decided that it was more than time to promote you to the position of master anyway, whether or not you were prepared to accept this position.

Lisinda smiles at Halsian. "I think you'd do a wonderful job.

Halsian's eyes raise until they practically reach his hairline. "M-me? Really?"

Garen smiles kindly. "Certainly you. Who would be better suited to it? I hear that you've been instructing some apprentices, so you obviously have the teaching experience, and all the reports I've had of you speak of you in only the highest terms. Please think about it. The hall needs men like you."

Halsian's smile practically splits his face as he nods vigorously. "I don't /need/ to think about it, I accept! Thank you!" He remembers to add, shaking the master's hand.

Lisinda grins. And gets up to kiss him on the cheek. "I'm so happy for you," she says.

Garen shakes warmly. "I'm so glad," he says. "I suppose you'll want to spend a few days collecting your things and getting things sorted out. Why don't you take a week or so off before you start? It's going to be exhausting work."

Halsian beams at Lisinda, then the master, nodding. "Yeah, sure! Thank you, thank you very much!" From Halsian's shoulder, Aozora trills brightly, amplifying his pet's joy.

Garen grins. "I'm looking for a craftsecond, too," he adds. "Oh the masters here are fine enough, but I want someone young, with vision and the strength to hold the place together. You've been doing some pretty original work I hear. I like that sort of initiative. Why don't you think that over, if you think you could cope with that as well?"

"Craftsecond?" Halsian blinks, then repeats, "Craftsecond?" He sounds quite amazed at the whole prospect. "Me? Really?" He glances warily at Lisinda.

Lisinda smiles back at him. As the masterhealer's journeyman, she's already privy to this, and obviously approves. "I'm sure you can do it," she says smilingly.

Halsian beams at Lisinda. "You think so?"

Lisinda grins at him. "Of course you can," she says encouragingly. "You'd be great at it."

Ophilya walks in from the Great Hall. Ophilya has arrived.

Ophilya stalks out of the great hall, clearly in search of something, though perhaps she's not quite sure what.

Halsian grins at Lisinda and waves to the new arrival. "Hello." He says, smiling cheerfully.

Ophilya wipes the stormy look off of her face at the greeting. "Hello," she replies, her voice carrying -- hopefully back into the hall. "You're.. a healer?" She eyes the small group, taking in the knots and modifying her tone halfway through to one of more respect.

Lisinda looks up and smiles. "We're all healers," she says. "I'm Lisinda, a journeyman, and this is Garen, the masterhealer," she points to him, "and Halsian, Master of Herblore and Craftsecond," she emphasises Halsian's titles slightly, obviously glad to be able to say them.

Garen smiles at Ophilya. "How can we help you my dear? Is something amiss at Crom?"

Halsian blushes at Lisinda. "Only just promoted, though."

Lisinda grins at Halsian. "It's true, nonetheless, and well earned from what I hear."

Halsian's color deepens, hopefully it isn't seen through his dark complexion. "Come on.. You're embarrassing me.."

Ophilya considers the trio. First, she shakes her head at Garen. "No, as far as I know, everything's quite well at Crom. I'm.. pleased to meet you all." Something clicks into place in her mind, and she smiles. "Quite pleased. It's very fortunate, actually.. my name is Ophilya, and I was interested in apprenticing to the healercraft."

Garen smiles gently at her. "Then you have indeed come to the right place," he says, "and to the right people as well. Perhaps you would honour us by sitting with us for a short time, and maybe we could discuss it."

Lisinda grins at Ophilya, and glances at the masterhealer. "Er should I go?" she asks

Ophilya beams at Garen. "I'd like that very much, thank you." Now here's someone who knows how people should be treated.

Garen shakes his head. "Stay a while," he says. "You may be needed later, and I wouldn't ask you to keep running back and forth." Garen smiles at Halsian. "Perhaps you would stay as well?" he asks, "after all, she will be one of your students if she is suited to the craft."

Chariana has connected.

Halsian blinks at Garen. "Really? Me?" He seems quite bewildered at this prospect.

Garen turns back to Ophilya. "And so, my dear, what is it that has brought you to apprentice yourself to our craft?"

Ophilya, with great willpower, bites back the flippant answer that rises to her lips. "Uh," She gropes for an answer, falling silent for a moment. "I've always wanted to be a.. healer."

Garen smiles gently. "And why is that my dear?"

Halsian grins at Ophilya, nodding. "Always a good reason to join a craft." He says, amusement dancing in those amber eyes of his.

Xanaeder has connected.

Ophilya flickers a glance at Halsian. If he weren't a master, it probably would have been one that said 'shut up'. But he is, so it's simply a glance with little behind it. "I think it all started when I was little," she starts, a hand drifting up to brush at the ends of her hair. "I always liked.." What did she like? A pause while she finds a word. "Cheering people." There.

Garen nods. "A good start," he says. "Have you had experience with healering before?"

Ophilya allows vaguely, "Some."

Halsian catches that glance and frowns slightly. He was being serious.. Hmph. "What kind of experience?"

Lisinda looks up at the other new arrivals. She smiles and whispers to the masterhealer.

Garen smiles at Chariana. "Hello," he says. "I'm afraid we seem to be in the middle of interview right now. Is there something urgent we can help you with, or can this apprentice" he indicates Xanaeder "help you to the hospitality of the hall?"

Chariana smiles "Its OK."

Xanaeder hearing conversation peeks his head around one of teh trees behind which he had been..studying. Seeing the groups members he grins eyeing those he hasn't yet met and those he knows all to well before ducking back behind, well almost but to bad since he was recognised. He waves to Chariana getting upa nd out from behind the tree "Ys'mam anything i can help with?"

Ophilya's eyes drift towards the crafthall for a moment. "Oh.. nothing bloody. But I can read, and I'm clever with my hands. I've quite a bit of experience with sore throat and cough remedies."

Chariana says "Nothing really, I am just waiting."

Halsian glances toward the masterhealer. "That's definitely a good start."

Chariana says "OH! I am sorry. I didn't know I was being an inconvience. I can come back later, if you want.""

Garen nods. "Indeed it is," he says. "There are many apprentices who don't start with so much experience. Did you enjoy the work my dear?"

Chariana waves. "I'll just look around for awhile." Chariana walks to the Ista Seahold -- Port. Chariana has left.

Ophilya replies, upon further reflection. "I liked it well enough."

Garen considers "well enough to devote your life to it?" he asks, "because that's what it is, a life commitment. It's a hard craft, though rewarding, and it won't tolerate anything less."

Xanaeder nodsa dn fades into the background. Ready to be called at a moments notice.

Ophilya glances at the crafthall again, her expression hardening. "I'm up to the challenge."

Halsian just listens, watching Ophilya thoughtfully.

Garen nods, thoughtfully. He turns to Halsian. "Maybe you could see what that young lady requires from us," he says quietly.

Halsian raises his eyebrows, but nods. "Yes, sir." He gives a quick wave to all present before spinning around on his healer to follow after Chariana.

Garen faces Ophilya again. "I'm pleased to hear that you relish a challenge," he says. "Some people don't appreciate how hard work being a healer is. Do you think you're up to seeing... well, some less than pleasant sights? Things can get a bit... unpleasant sometimes."

Ophilya smiles grimly. "I've lived through Crom in winter, and if that isn't unpleasant I don't know what is. Seriously, though, I have a strong stomach. I should be alright."

Skye has arrived.

Lisinda sets Skye gently on the floor Lisinda walks to the Great Hall. Lisinda has left.

Lisinda walks to the Courtyard. Lisinda has left.

Chariana has arrived.

Xanaeder walks in from the Courtyard. Xanaeder has arrived.

Chariana smiles "Hello Xanaeder."

Xanaeder slips in from outside. "Good Evening."

Halsian waves to Xanaeder as he slides into a seat beside Chariana. "Are you sure you don't need any help with anything, miss..." He pauses, waiting to hear her name.

Chariana says "Chariana"

Halsian nods, smiling. "Chariana.. I'm Halsian, by the way... Recently promoted Herblore Master and Craftsecond." He grins a bit crookedly as he adds, "Well met."

Chariana smiles. "Congratulations on your promotion." Chariana says "I really dont need anything. Really."

Xanaeder stopas and actually /looks/ at Halsian. Recently promoted! Oh boy...

Halsian smiles politely at Chariana, giving a nod. "Thank you.. Are you sure there's nothing you need? We're all quite hospitable, here at the hall.."

Chariana brushes back her hair. "Maybe a cup of Klah, if you wouldn't mind..."

Xanaeder grins makinnmg his way over in that direction anyhow "I got it! He says.

Chariana says "Thank you, I must say, you are all so very polite."

Lisinda walks in from the Courtyard. Lisinda has arrived.

Halsian nods to the long-haired lad, smiling. "Thank you.. Xanaeder, was it?" He asks, trying to remember all these new names. "Well, we try to be." He says to Chariana, smiling. "So, what brings you here, Chariana?"

Xanaeder pours several mugs out and puts them on a tray along with a small dish of sugar and makes his way over to Halsian and his guest. He carefully sets the tray on the table before them careful nto to spill a single drop.

Lisinda wanders in wearily. Seeing Halsian and Xanaeder and Chariana, she waves, and looks like she's wondering if she ought to sit with them. While thinking, she grabs herself some juice.

Chariana smiles at Halsian "I was inquiring on Healer apprenticeship. Thank you...." She pauses for a second "Xanaeder."

Xanaeder smiles. "Yes master Halsian."

Chariana smiles at Halsian. "Nice to meet you, Master Halsian"
