The six tankubon [volumes] of MKR, by CLAMP, span the adventures of three girls: Shidou Hikaru, Ryuuzaki Umi, and Houuji Fuu. The first three volumes tell the story about how the girls first arrive in the mystical land of Cephrio, and the second three speak of how the girls return to the same land, and how their experiences from the first time they were there affect how they behave the second time they are there. The story itself is fabulous; it has no equal. I enjoy the anime, and while CLAMP did both the art work for the anime and the manga, I prefer artwork of CLAMP's manga, as well as the more intense storyline. Unlike Sailormoon, there are very few plot changes between the anime and manga versions of RayEarth, so one can easily get enough accurate information by just reading about just one of the versions. These pages are not meant in anyway to rival the size of the Sailormoon pages; thus, it is only one page with several helpful links. Perhaps in the future it may be expanded, but with the already troublesome size of this site, it'll probably never happen. I just wanted to indulge myself by creating a pretty, one-paged site dedicated to MKR. :)
In the beginning... [Tokyo Tower, 1994] Shidou Hikaru's school has taken a trip to Tokyo Tower, something that her classmates find stupid...Hikaru, on the other hand, loves the place, and is eagerly peering through a set of binoculars when the money runs out and it shuts off. While searching for money, a girl wearing a neat, conservative green uniform appears, and she gives Hikaru some money, saying she likes watching Hikaru enjoy the binoculars. As the girl walks away, Hikaru stares dumbfoundedly at the girl's back, and Hikaru's classmates whisper to each other that the girl must be from a school for very smart people. Hikaru hears none of their gossip, and scampers off to thank the girl....and gets caught in a line of girls from yet another school visiting the Tower; in the background Hikaru's classmates comment that the line of girls walking past, the ones wearing neatly tailored blue uniforms, are from a school for daughters of politicians/famous/rich people. One girl looks over in their direction, and tosses her long blue hair, and Hikaru's classmates begin to excitedly comment about how beautiful she is, like a model. A strange light suddenly fills the tower.....and an image of a girl with long, long, long wavy blonde hair appears, and in a quavering, tearful voice, she begs for the legendary Magic Knights to save her world. The floor suddenly disappears from under Hikaru, the girl with the blue hair, and the girl in the green uniform's feet, and they fall through the air screaming...... ....and land upon a flying fish. As the girls stare in disbelief, they pass by a flying mountain, a floating volcano, and a sparkling lake. When the fish finally lands, the girls again stare at each other, with the girl in green quietly and logically laying out what they already know, the girl in blue going into a fit, and Hikaru staying in the background, listening and absorbing her surroundings..... They finally introduce themselves....Ryuuzaki Umi is the girl with the long blue hair, and Houuji Fuu is the girl in green. All three girls are in the eighth grade (second year in junior high in japan), but Hikaru looks younger to Umi and Fuu....and they tell her so, irritating her. The flying fish disappears at that moment, with a strong, authoritative voice calling, "Unsummon beast!"..... The three girls turn to see a short little boy with white hair, heavily ladden with rich jewels and bejeweled robes and carrying a tall staff with a large blue jewel on one end. Welcome to Cephiro, Magic Knights, he says. The three girls stare in shock.
