It was that simple.
Kurama sobbed into his pillow.
It was that simple. Hiei had actually claimed he felt the same way Kurama did.
Kurama could still hear the words he had whispered....
"Hai. Ai Shiteru."
He had been so happy. That estatic feeling was completly gone now, Hiei had ran away.
Kurama had been so exceedingly happy that Hiei loved him that he had kissed the little
koorime.
Apparently Hiei wasn't ready for that. He had stared at him stunned for a few
unbearable seconds then fled out the window he had come in, leaving no trace that he had been
there. Kurama knew he had blown his chance.
Shiori stood outside her son's bedroom door, pondering whether she should disturb him
or not. He had been crying for the last fifteen minutes, or at least that was when she had
walked by his door only to hear the sound of the strangled sobs on the other side.
She knocked softly. "Shuu-chan? Can I come in?"
She heard a choked, muffled affirmative and she opened the door slowly.
He was lying face down on his bed, his face hidden in a pillow.
Shiori crept over there and sat beside him. "What's wrong, Shuuichi?"
Kurama said nothing but sat up and embraced her then cried on her shoulder for awhile.
After his crying had slowed some she asked him again. "Now, What's the matter?"
Kurama looked away.
Shiori had a pretty good guess what was wrong. "Is-is it a girl?" He shook his head.
"If not a girl what then?"
"he- he just ran away."
A boy? "Start from the beginning Shuu-chan."
Kurama bit his lip.
"Come on. Let's go get you some tea. She stood up.
"...I was stupid enough to kiss him...and he ran, he ran away. It's my fault."
"Now. You are too hard on yourself. It isn't only you're fault." Siori Hugged him
again ad he started to cry.
"Is there anything else you would care to tell me? What's his name?" Shiori smiled
a little. Her son. In love.
"Hiei. And.." Hiei. One of those new friends of his, she guessed. She had seen them
once. Some of them. Three boys and two girls. They stayed rather closely together. She had
feared he had joined some sort of gang, but his grades hadn't changed, he was always doing his
work as usual.
"Which one of your new friends is he?"
"What? I.."
"I've seen your friends once. A few of them. Three young men and two girls, is he one
of them?" Shiori smiled. He definatly needed some support now. He could probably use this
nice talk too.
"Th- the short one."
Shiori patted his shoulder. "If you love each other it is fine with me. Though I was
rather hoping for grandchildren sometime in the future."
"And... " I can't lie to her anymore, Kurama reminded himself trying to draw the
courage to tell her everything. " I am not what you think I am."
Shiori listened patiently, kurama took a deep breath and continued. "I-...I am a
Youko." She wanted to laugh, he was joking yes?
The look on his face said no. "Before I was born..here, that is. I was a youko in the
Makai. I was a thief, a very skilled thief...My name was, is Kurama. I was fleeing a hunter
when I found my way into your womb. I inhabited the baby, as ...it didn't have any soul yet.
You have always been so nice to me. My first mother, I never knew her. " Better to leave it at
that Kurama thought, she doesn't need to know everything about my Youko life before I came
here. Maybe I will tell her someday. "I love you, mother and I am sorry for decieving you all
this time. I ..didn't know how I could possibly tell you. ..I suppose you don't believe me.."
Kurama changed into Youko Kurama.
Shiori let out a small gasp. More of surprise than shock. This man looked nothing like
her son, that is if he could be called a man.
Yet if felt so like her son. There was the same caring in his eyes, the same hurt.
She watched his tail as it swished a little, and she knew she had to say something....anything.
"I don't know what to say, Sh- Kurama."
"I'm sorry." He turned away and turned back into the son she knew so well. His vioce
had been deeper than her Shuuichi's. He definatly looked older. Shiori realized she was more
curious than anything else. She wanted to know about this life she never knew her son had.
"No, you are still my son."

Kurama finished up his homework and closed his book. It was late. He turned to the
open window as he had done every night for the past week and sighed. "Hiei..." Kurama got
ready for bed and turned out his light.
"Stupid fox."
Kurama whirled around to see an outline of a person in the window, small, horribly
messy hair. "Hiei."
"Hn. Stupid fox. Always assuming things."
Kurama reached out and hugged Hiei lightly, afraid he'd run away again. He didn't
have to worry.
Hiei leaned forward, the window making their faces at somewhat equal heighth and
kissed kurama softly, timidly. Kurama pulled away, shocked.
"You came back."
"Of course I did. I said I loved you." The moon came out from behind a cloud and
illuminated Hiei's face. Impassive as always, nothing any different.
"Why, why did you leave?"
Hiei didn't answer, instead he kissed Kurama again. This time Kurama wasn't quite as
shocked and kissed back, sliding Hiei slowly down from the windowsill.
"Hiei, stay with me tonight."
"Hn."
