Jadeite is the second villain to appear in Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, as well as the first to bite the dust. >.< Known as Jedite in North America, he is the only of Beryl's general's who has short hair, as well as one of the only blonde men who isn't PLATINUM blonde. And he's hot! ^.^ His ideas actually aren't that bad, like harnessing energy from a health club. But he was very careless with his work, and somewhat ignorant. He tapped energy from large groups of people, which the Sailor Senshi were always in, coincidentally... ^.^ and it almost always worked until Sailor Moon got in the way. Jadeite doesn't have much character, although considering he wasn't given much time to develop, it's really not a surprise. In the manga, he is killed by Sailor Mars' flames. (Somewhat disgusting to look at. ^.^;;) Jadeite is my personal favorite, but there's really not much to tell about him.
I don't know HOW Beryl got to be number 4, but she did. Personally, I don't like her very much. Beryl is the very first baddie to turn up in Sailor Moon. She's the head honcho of the Dark Kingdom, and orders all of the generals around while she sits on her lazy rear and watches things happen in her magic ball. (Why does she always have to wave her hands around, anyways? It looks really... stupid. ^.~) Beryl is cold as ice, but you have to admit, she perseveres. And she's powerful- you piss her off, and you're gone. POOF. Beryl has very little tolerance for incompetence. At the end of her reign, she is given once last chance by Queen Metalia (AKA The Negaforce) to defeat the Sailor Senshi. She is then posessed by Metalia, turns funny colors, and takes her last shot at Sailor Moon. In the anime, all of the inner senshi bond together to defeat Beryl, and the world is safe. In the manga (or so I've heard), Beryl is defeated by Sailor Venus, but I can't be sure. I'd have to check for myself. All in all, Beryl is one of the most ruthless villains of the series, but alas, also has little personality. (Just a fun note- in the early volumes of the manga, you learn a different story about Beryl- not necessarily that she destroyed the moon kingdom, but that she happened upon the Dark Kingdom while at the North Pole and began her reign from there. Cool, huh? ^.^)
I have new appreciation for Black Lady, known as Wicked Lady in the North American version. Why? Because I met someone dressed like her at Anime Expo '99. ^.^ It was a REALLY good costume, too!! I'm sure we have a picture somewhere. And what was really cool was we had my little sister dressed as Chibi-Usa, so we had a little before and after thing going on. Spifferific!! ANYWAYS... as you've probably already guessed, Black Lady was, at a point in time, Chibi-Usa. She's one of these villains that was only evil for like, a quarter of a season. Wise Man tricked Chibi-Usa into believing that no one loved her, then aged her to 16, named her Black Lady, and had her work with Diamond to take back Earth of the past. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon and the others did their best to revive Black Lady's good memories, but without much luck. She was finally turned back to Chibi-Usa when she realized that her friends and family really DID love her, and would sacrifice themselves for her safety if they needed to. Okay, enough of that, lemme tell you about the skit these cute girls did. ^.^ It was so adorable- they went up onstage and pretty much acted out a scene from the NA dub of Sailor Moon, with original lines and everything! And at the end Wicked Lady was turned back to the good side and they all lived happily ever after. I seriously loved the skit, and they got an award for it, too! Best kids show... it was SO kawaii. And the next day Wicked Lady sat next to my sister and I while we watched the Sailor Moon SuperS movie! She was in costume ALL weekend. I seriously respect her for that- I could probably never walk around as Sailor Moon, or anyone else, for 3 days straight. Okay... SHUT UP, CALLIE! ^.^
Sailor Galaxia can EASILY be voted coolest Sailor Moon baddie of all time! She is the head honcho of the Sailor Animates, the group of baddies from Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. Galaxia was originally a powerful senshi who held the light of hope in her soul. When Chaos began to take the Galaxy, she encased Chaos within her body and released the light of hope into the Galaxy, hoping it would find someone who could eventually destroy chaos. The light of hope eventually morphed into Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon. Shortly afterwards Chaos completely took over Galaxia, and she began a quest to conquer the galaxy by blowing up planets and recruiting other senshi as her personal assistants. She finally reached earth, finding the Sailor Senshi ready to fight her to the finish. (Fun note- The Sailor Starlights planet and princess were destroyed by Galaxia. Okay, maybe not so fun note...) In the end, Galaxia is restored to her normal self, and they all live happily ever after. (I stole that from The Realm of Galaxia...) Galaxia is considered by many to be the most powerful Sailor Senshi after Sailor Moon. And indeed, she is INCREDIBLY powerful. Not only that, but she has such a complex character it's hard to imagine her as simply a figment of Takeuchi-sensei's imagination. Galaxia leaves a lasting impression, whether you've actually seen Sailor Stars or not. She's AMAZING!
I admit... I know little to nothing about Mistress 9. So here's info I dug up on the web- Mistress 9 is quite a complicated character. She is actually Hotaru Tomoe (Sailor Saturn), only posessed and evil. One day while working with her father, Hotaru was killed in an explosion. As Tomoe held his dead daughter in his arms, an evil spirit appeared and promised to revive her as long as the professor submitted to the terms. Tomoe agreed, saying he would do anything for Hotaru. Hotaru was given her life back, but at any time she can be posessed by the evil Mistress 9, who works for the even more evil Pharoah 90. Hotaru has seizures which symbolize Mistress 9 taking over, and often hurts people while having them. This is why she tends to stay away from most of humanity, besides the fact that she is ridiculed for being different. From what I've seen of Sailor Moon S, Mistress 9 is searching for a pure heart, but don't take it from me! Information found at The Multiple Personalities of Tomoe Hotaru. This is a very good place for Hotaru/Sailor Saturn stuff!! Overall, Mistress 9 is one of the most evil and intriguing villains of Sailor Moon, mostly because she is taking over an innocent body in the process. I can see why she took number one, and next time I'll pay a little more attention to her. ^.~
