Disclaimer: I don’t own any of these characters (L-sama knows if I did, I would have made the series much more romantic!).
WARNING- no, this is not a lemon fic, it just has a make out scene in it. So if you can’t take that sort of thing, then don’t read it. There, now you’ve been given a fair warning.
Amelia lay on her bed, hugging her pillow to her bosom as she
cried silent tears. It was midnight and she had been awaken by the
same dream she had been having every night since Zelgadis had left.
A gentle breeze blew through the open window, ruffling the princess's raven
black hair. She stared out the window at the full moon. Would
she ever see him again? Snuggling closer to her pillow, she put her
hand to her face. How long had it been since she had felt his touch,
how long since he had held her? Too long, she decided.
Zelgadis touched his cheek. How he missed the felling of
her soft skin on his own. Her bright, mysterious eyes focused on
his. Her dark hair, like the night that surrounded him, and so very
soft. He lay awake, thinking about her, and about his dreams.
Every night, she was in them. Every night, he realized how much she
meant to him, and how much he needed her. How he longed to hold her
in his arms, to feel her soft body against his. He made up his mind.
He was going back to get her; he had to.
Amelia decided that she had to find him, no matter where he was.
She needed him badly. She set out that very night, cloaked in black.
The full moon shone down brightly, but she had already decided that she
couldn't wait for the new moon. She had to go now, or loose her sanity.
She climbed the castle wall, not wanting to levitate so as to conserve
energy. Jumping down the other side onto the soft grass, she took
off. She had no idea where to start, except to try the place he had
told her he was going. With only this as a lead, she set off in search
of her beloved chimera.
Zelgadis made his way to Saliunne, not knowing how long it would
take him to get there, but not faltering from his journey. His thoughts
drifted to the princess. He smiled subconsciously. He saw her
raven black hair blowing in the breeze, her majestic blue eyes, full of
life and happiness, her determination and inner strength, her justice speeches.
He never realized how much he actually missed them. Her petite form,
so innocent and beautiful. His thoughts wandered to her other attributes
and he blushed. All of this increased his determination and he started
flying faster, using the power of the rayewing. After awhile, he
stopped at the top of the long road that led into Saliunne. Smiling
he whispered aloud "I made it." Now he only had a few more miles
to go.
Amelia jogged quickly down the road that led out of Saliunne.
She began to think of her Chimera; his light blue skin, hard like stone,
and yet smooth and perfect. She remembered his smell of sun-warmed
rock and the wind that blew across the moor. His eyes were what always
enchanted her the most. They seemed to be the only portal through
which someone could see the real Zelgadis. But, like a feather in
the wind, it would suddenly be swept away, and they would become hard and
distant, as if they too were made of stone.
Suddenly, Amelia heard a rustling in the bushes. Turning
around, she saw a wolf creature emerge from the side of the road.
"Princesses shouldn't be out at night, it's dangerous, you know!"
Then the wolf pounced on her, tackling her to the ground. "Ahhhh!"
She cried out in pain as he landed on top of her, crushing her beneath
his giant form. "Fire ba-” The wolf man grabbed her neck and closed
his clawed paw around it. "No, no, no, we mustn't play with fire,
we could get burned!" Then he pinned her arms to her sides and began
to tie her up. Amelia was furious! This monster was keeping
her from finding her Zelgadis! Tucking her feet up to her chest,
she placed a hard kick into the werewolf's stomach. Jumping up, she
concentrated on a Ra-tilt. "Source of all souls which dwell in eternal
and infinite. Everlasting flame of blue, let the power hidden in
my soul be called forth from the infinite...Ra-Tilt!" The attack
blasted to creature backward. He lay unmoving on the road.
Trembling, Amelia suddenly felt as though someone was watching
her. Whirling around to prevent another attack, she looked u to see
Xellos floating above her, legs crossed, chin in his hand. "Amelia,
what are you doing out so late? Young princesses should be in bed."
He smiled. Amelia was relieved to see that it was him, and not another
monster. Yet, the trickster's sudden appearance was rather unnerving.
"Xellos, what are you doing? Why didn't you help me?!" He grinned
"Sore wa himi-" "Alright, alright, it's a secret! I get it!"
She turned around and started walking off. "Can't let you do that,
Princess. Orders, you see." And suddenly, he appeared in front
of her. "Xellos, what are you doing- Ahhhh!" The mazoku had
grabbed Amelia by the wrists. "Never give a job to an amateur, no
matter how simple it may seem. Just a little advice for you."
Amelia gasped and fought against the mazoku's grasp "You sent that monster!"
Xellos grinned. "It's the beast master's orders." Amelia fought
against Xellos' grip. "What does she want with me?!" Xellos
smiled. It annoyed Amelia that he wasn't even trying. "Sore
wa himitsu desu. Now, Amelia, you are to come with me." Before
she even knew what she was doing, she instinctively cried out, "Zelgadis!!!!!!!!!"
Xellos laughed as he lifted her into the air. "Silly girl, he's millions
of miles away. He can't help you this time."
A mile away, Zelgadis heard a cry. "Amelia?!" From
the distance, his chimera ears picked up the desperate sound of Amelia's
voice, calling his name. "Amelia!!" Concentrating and shaking
with fury, he managed to cast ray wing and sped off towards the distant
sound.
Amelia kicked at the mazoku as he tried to contain her without
injury to himself or her, so as not to disobey Zellas Metallium, his mistress.
"You are making this rather difficult, Amelia, it would be so much less
strenuous on yourself to just- OW!!!!!" Amelia, her wrists bound
by Xellos' hands, had bit the trickster in the arm. Letting go of
her with one hand, he examined his bleeding arm. Amelia had sunk
her teeth in and had bitten down as hard as she possibly could. Now
with her one hand free, she formed a fireball. It exploded at Xellos'
right shoulder, and he dropped a few feet in altitude, his free arm clutching
his injured shoulder. Turning back to face her, Xellos grabbed her
around the neck. his grin had vanished from his face. "Princess,
I am getting very annoyed with you. “ My mistress wanted you
unharmed if possible. But I've lost my patience." Amelia remained
frozen, staring into his cold violet eyes. He raised his staff above
his head with his free arm and knocked her to the ground. She hit
the road with a dull thud. Her vision blurry, she looked up to see
Xellos raise his staff once again, bringing it whooshing down. She
closed her eyes and passed out.
The blow didn't come. Zelgadis held the trickster's staff,
which was midway through it's arch. "Hold it right there, mazoku."
Tugging the staff out of Xellos' surprised hands, he threw it to the side.
Zelgadis now grabbed the startled priest by the collar and looked
him in the eye. Zelgadis cast a fireball in his hands. Xellos
grinned and tripped him. The spell exploded and Xellos grabbed his
staff. He swung at the chimera, who ducked the blow.
Disappearing, he appeared behind Zelgadis and slammed the end of his staff
into the Chimera's back. Zelgadis fell to one knee. Standing,
Zelgadis looked up to see Xellos levitating a couple feet above the ground
and holding his precious Amelia. Zelgadis charged at Xellos, whom
wasn’t a fast enough while holding the princess to get out of the way in
time. Zelgadis slammed into the mazoku's injured right shoulder.
Xellos grabbed his shoulder again, dropping Amelia as he rose into the
air. Zelgadis, using his chimera speed, caught the princess before
she hit the ground. "I'll be back, Zelgadis, you can count on it!"
Panting, Zelgadis looked at the unconscious princess in his arms.
How wonderful it was to hold her again, he thought. Casting raywing,
he made his way back to Saliunne castle, and through the open window he
knew to be hers. He gently lay her on the bed and knelt beside her.
Casting a cure spell, he healed the bruises Xellos' staff had caused.
"Curse that damn Xellos!" Sighing, he ran his fingers through her
soft hair. Marveling at her beauty. Her eyes slowly fluttered
open, and she looked at Zelgadis' relieved yet worried face. "Zelgadis-san?"
He smiled. "I'm back, Ame." She sat up slowly, and Zelgadis
sat next to her on the bed. "Where is Xellos?" "Far away, I
think. For now, you're safe, Ame." She smiled at him and her
eyes shone brightly. Zelgadis sighed happily, looking deep into her
sapphire eyes. How long had it been since he had been able to do
just that? He realized now, more than ever, how much he took her
presence for granted. She collapsed into his arms. Burying
her face in his shirt, she breathed in the smell that belonged to him alone,
remembering how long she had yearned to be held in his strong protective
embrace. "Zelgadis..... I've missed you so much." Zelgadis
rubbed her back, holding her close, never wanting to let her go ever again.
"I missed you too, Ame." He pulled back, looking her in the eyes
again. Gods, how beautiful she was. How had he lived without
her for so long? Leaning closer to her, he breathed in her scent.
She alone smelled of wild honey suckle in the spring breeze. "I love
you, Zelgadis..." She closed her eyes and leaned towards him.
Claiming her lips with his own, he kissed her passionately.
As Zelgadis's tongue started massaging Amelia's, she felt a jolt
of electricity flow through her. Wrapping her arms around his neck
she pulled herself up against him, allowing her to return the kiss more
freely. A low and content groan issued from his throat and he melted
against her. Letting his arms slide down her shoulders, he wrapped
them about her waste and held her to his chest. They explored each
other's mouths. Their contented moans and sighs pleased each other,
and encouraged the kiss. Slowly, Zelgadis pulled away from the princess.
"Ame...” Embracing her lips again, the two of them lay down on the bed.
Beneath him, Amelia felt as though she was in heaven. She let her
hands find their way underneath his shirt, and traced circles on his back.
Zelgadis moaned in pure pleasure. He broke away from her mouth, trailing
his kisses down her neck. A long groan escaped Amelia's throat as
he half nibbled, half kissed her neck. “Zelgadis..." she sighed.
His thumbs massaged her cheeks, and he rolled over, returning his attention
to her face again. "Amelia, I.... Oh gods...” He cried out
in sheer rapture as she trailed kisses up the side of his face and began
to nibble on his hear. How sensitive they were! "Oh Ame, I...”
he sighed. She looked at him questioningly. "Oh gods, how I
love you, Amelia." He leaned towards her again and they slipped into
the kiss. As she felt his tongue running over hers again, she removed
his shirt and ran her hands across the smooth stone surface. Suddenly,
she broke their kiss and he let out a long content sigh. Opening
his eyes, he looked at her questioningly. She stared at him, awestruck.
"Zelgadis...” She stared at his bare chest. Following hr gaze, he
realized what had surprised her so. His skin was slowly sliding back
to it's original tan, and his hair softened. "You're human, again,
Zelgadis..." Zelgadis smiled and leaned towards her again.
"Let's see how well I kiss as a human." He embraced her again in
the most passionate kiss yet, running his now-human hands across her shoulder
blades and down her back.
Finally, the two broke apart, exhausted. Lying upon his
soft chest, she felt the rhythm of his heartbeat and felt his bare chest
go up and down with every breath. "What made me become human again?"
he wondered aloud. "It is because you learned to open up your heart
again, Zelgadis. Once you overcame you're appearance, and learned
to love again, you became human again." He looked at her, "But
I've loved you from the start, I just-" "Never realized nor admitted it.
This was the first time you said it aloud and truly meant it." she
finished for him. "You're right." He placed a kiss atop her
head and held her tightly to him. "How could I ever make it without
you?" She giggled. "You couldn't. And I couldn't make
it without you."
Shortly afterwards, they fell asleep in each other’s arms.
The next morning, Lina called to visit. Opening the door to rise
the sleepy princess, Lina found the two nestled in each other's arms, fast
asleep and grinning broadly. Shutting the door quietly, she blushed
at what she just saw. "It shouldn't surprise me in the least, though.
Figures they'd eventually find each other. But I wonder if Phil knows...”
She smiled and decided to see what the castle cooks had in store in the
way of breakfast. “I’d better hurry though before Gourry finishes
it all.”
