is Mount Misen

There is a ropeway to the summit of Mount Misen (530 meter high)
from Momijidani Eki just next to the park.
There is also a lovely unused trail by the eki leading to the summit.
Most Japanese take the ropeway.

Miyajima has been given special attention and devotion for over 1 500 years. It is brimming with exemplary shrines, temples, pagodas, museums and parks.
They are found at almost every turn of the pathway as it skirts the shoreline and climbs into hidden recesses on the hillsides.
