In the 14th century, the ladies of the houses of the samurai, at the palaces and temples, started using folded paper to store medicines, medicinal herbs and dried fish. Henceforth, after adding decorative subtleties, the so-called origami was meant to be part of the education of young girls. During the 18th century people could find pre-folded paper in the shops with practical, ceremonial and playful models.
