Sunday - August 24, 2003

• Here's a screenshot of the game that I'm making. It's actually version 0.1. The world file was taken from NeHe's site from the GLDragonWarrior game in his downloads section. When I'm done, the world will probably look something like this but with a different layout since I have what my world will look like on a piece of paper here. Yeah the graphics look like they would come from a Nintendo or something but I've learned that graphics mean nothing when a good story is behind it. Thanks to Loren for helping me out with questions I had and that NeHe site has been an invaluable tool too. Oh yeah, the Red Book also helped every now and then. So far so good. My implementation of the world seems to have worked from the screenshot and the idea was hatched up by looking at the overworld file and how it was strutured. Since I had something like that before done in my ECE 104 class I decided to lean in that direction for my implementation since I knew how to do it. Just parse, store in an 2D array, then draw. I'll get more screenshots for those of you who are interested in seeing what I keep talking about. To answer some of your questions on why I'm doing this, I'm actually going to use this as part of my application to grad school. That and it's been a dream of mine just to make a game no matter how primitivie it may be. So yeah, I'll keep working on this and hopefully I'll have a working version soon.
• Watched Monday Sessions in Irvine last night. One word. Awesome! It was fun watching them live finally. I've heard so many good stories about them so I had to see it for myself. Got there at 7:30 to listen to the last half hour of them performing. However, they stayed till 9 which was cool cause I got to hear and enjoy their songs. Their rendition of one of the Alliyah songs was dope. Man, times like that I wish to myself that I practiced more on my guitar. =P I would just like to say great job to my choir mentor Chris "the Master" Naval, his gf Trish, and his other band member Ryan. On another note, I saw my old roommate Vince Rectra at the perfomance tonight. Man, haven't seen my Chicago Bears buddy in such a long time. It was pretty cool. =) Saw Joyce's apt there too which is always nice and got to see old school people that I haven't seen in awhile like Seashell. Good times!
• Watched the Tenchi series which I kinda missed. It's a good series.... really it is. I'm starting to remember why I was a hardcore anime watcher long time ago. I just like animation I guess. I remember how people have such a hard time finding presents for me. It would have been really cool if I got the Tenchi TVseries, either one of them in a boxed DVD set. I know that will never happen because they cost an arm and a leg to get. Thus, no worries, one day I'll just buy it for myself. =) Oh yeah, if you have time, watch and Miyazaki anime, Record of Lodoss War, and Gunbusters if you have time. Classics.

• Created a javascript clock just to make sure that you can't blame this site for making you late. =) Hope it helps.
• Gonna create a calendar through javascript later on just so you dont have to look at your systray for that info.

• Menu System for my RPG game has now been implemented. Creating the game world as we speak. Thanks to Loren for helping me out with code and some graphics.

• Fixed the link going to the Monday Sessions Band. Oh yeah, their playing this Saturday if anyone wants to go. =)

Wednesday - August 13, 2003

• Picture page 2 is now up
• Fixed layout problems. All I can say about that is duh to me. =P
• Deciding whether I should create an "Extra / Misc." link in order to house anything else that may come in mind that doesn't fit in the 6 categories listed above.
• Still creating more sprites for my 2D game. Hopefully in a month or so I'll have screenshots to show you. =)
• My kuya and I had this webpage that we created back in 1996 and it's still getting hits to this date. Over a million and counting. Wow. Hey kuya, we did well.... yay!

Tuesday - August 12, 2003

• This will be the new layout for the website until I get bored of it. That will probably be very very soon. Until then, I'm going to fix this up a bit.
• If anyone is good at making 2D models (terrain objects, character sprites, and backgrounds), please get a hold of me as soon as possible because I'm making this rpg game using openGL and if anyone was so kind to help me out that would be wonderful.
