Volume 3: X-File - In Case of Kunakida
Transcripted by schally

[Takeuchi and Kunakida are walking through a field]

Takeuchi: Stop sir! Don't walk that way!

Kunakida: What's wrong?

T: Look at the ground!

K: Huh?

[We see that one section of the ground looks (animation-wise) different from the rest of it.]

K: Oooh! [dramatic shot] The ground's drawn on an animation cell!

[We switch to a side view, with SD Kunakida walking along.]

K: How many animation characters have died because they failed to recognize it?

[The ground under SD Kunakida breaks and he falls.]

K: You did a great job! Thank you for finding it.

[As he puts his hand on Takeuchi's shoulder, the ground beneath them begins to crumble. They both scream and fall, but somehow manage to climb back up.]

K: Aw, shit! They did a really complicated animation sequence there! Hey, director, this ground was drawn on a cell!

T: It was easier to do it this way than to cut the foreground out of cardboard.

K: Let's be off!

T: Right.

[Scene switch to an old, gothic-looking house. Kunakida and Takeuchi are approaching.]

K: This is the place we want.

T: Yes. We're looking for what's in this house.

K: Hey! This door isn't drawn on an animation cell!

[SD Kunakida returns, this time in front of a door.]

K: Normally, they draw the door on a cell so it can open like this.

K: This is ridiculous.

[SD Takeuchi opens the door by sliding it.]

SD T: This door opens like this!

SD K: Ooohhh... (falls over, leg twitching)

[Scene switch to a dim, cobweb filled room. The duo open the door slowly, then step inside.]

K: Boy, this is a lot of trouble. Well, where is The One?

T: Well, our source said it would be in a desk in this room!

K: A desk drawer? I've got a baaad feeling about this.

[He runs to the desk, then gasps.]

K: I see.

[The camera pans to show three differently-drawn doors lined up vertically.]

K: As I thought! These drawers aren't drawn on separate cells!

T: Sir! Remember what will happen if you open the wrong drawer!

K: What will happen?

T: (makes an explosion gesture with her hand) Ka-boom.

K: (sweat drop) I hadn't heard anything about that.

T: The director made it up just now.

K: In any case, The One we're lookin for is in one of these drawers. The bottom one shouldn't move because the pattern is too complicated. I have to choose between the top one and the middle one.

[Dramatic music plays while Kunakida takes a serious pose.]

K: IS THIS IT?! AHAAA!

[He opens the middle drawer. A slip of paper is inside that reads "The One."]

T: Ooooh!

K: Ah ha ha!

T: Yes, it's The One! But how did you know which drawer to look in?

K: It's easy. Look at the handles on the drawers. One has a complicated shape that wouldn't be easy to retrace during movement. But the one in the middle is not necessary to retrace.

T: I don't think anyone but an animation fan would understand this, but what great reasoning! (blushes)

K: (stud pose) Babe, you'll burn yourself if you fall in love with me.

T: Oh, sir!

K: Bye bye!
