SlamDunk is a Japanese manga (comic) written by Takehiko Inoue which centers around the personal and sporting life of protagonist, Hanamichi Sakuragi. He is without doubt one of the most original and funniest characters created, and in SlamDunk, his antics are hilarious. This is because his attitude is somewhat different from others, with his red hair, little respect for others, and tremendous fighting abilities, he is a perfect recipe for disaster! It is also interesting to note that Hanamichi is very similar to Chicago Bull's Dennis Rodman, both in personality, skills, and of course, hairstyle. Having been dumped by fifty girls when he was in Junior High, Hanamichi enters Shohoku High School and once again, falls in love. However, this time its Haruko Akagi, the sister of the captain of Shohoku basketball team, Takenori Akagi. Hence, to gain her affection, the athletic Hanamichi decides to enter the basketball team. However, little did he know that basketball was such a demanding sport. From this scenario, Takehiko employs his artistic talents and wit to create what I think, along with many others is one of the best comic and anime series around.
