Purpose:
Monitoring of the overall activities of fishery sector of Pakistan the
main functions of marine fisheries department are as follows:-To undertake
sea exploratory fishing surveys and biological research to determine where,
when and how much fish is available; to study the occurrence, life history
and distribution of commercially important fishes; to manage and rationally
utilize available fish stocks in the exclusive economic zone of Pakistan;
to manage and improve fishing. Introduce newer fishing techniques and
improvements of the traditional methods; to train fisher men in fishing
techniques, seamanship and engine care; to promote technological research
to improve fish handling and preservation methods and to introduce new
fish products; to liaise and deal with: FAO/UNDP of the United Nations.
