Surviors Found at Site of Philippine DC-9 Crash
A Philippine DC-9 with 104 passengers aboard crashed on Monday, February 2, into a mountain
on Mindinao Island. 15 survivors have and 30 bodies have been found. The Flight,
Cebu Pacific Air No. 387, was headed south to Cagayan de Oro from Manilla. The distance of
the flight is about 500 miles. The Plane told ground control at 10:48 am that it was
preparing its descent. The chief air traffic controller at Cagayan's airport, Artemio
Garcia, said residents of a village on a foothill of Mount Balatucan had reported hearing
"a very loud explosion" near the summit shortyl before 11:00 am.
