--RUMOR OF NEW TRIGUN ANIME DENIED--
9/9/01
Trigun fans were overjoyed at a Fansview.com Otakon report in which Madhouse's Masao Maruyama answered the question of 'Will there be more Trigun?':
"It's a difficult question...we're planning on making a new Trigun work but there are many issues to resolve. "Gundrive will be the name of the new work."To confirm this report, I posted a question on the BBS at Yasuhiro Nightow's homepage, Electric Flyer. Nightow-sensei himself responded, saying:
"Unfortunately, Madhouse has no plans for a new Trigun animation. It would be nice if someday, if the timing was right, they could make another fine film." [translation mine]
I'm guessing Maruyama's statement was mistranslated/misinterpreted--perhaps the use of the word "will" makes his final statement more definite than he intended, or perhaps Gundrive is actually the name of a new Madhouse work unrelated to Trigun. In any case, he knows we want more, and a new Trigun anime isn't completely out of the question, but it's a little too soon to bust out the donuts and Black Cat beer.
