The first girl selected to become a pilot of Evangelion. She is called "First Children". Her career and genetic background has been erased from the records. She goes to Tokyo-3 municipal Jr. High school with Shinji and Asuka, but she doesn't haveany friends other than those two.

She started training for EVA since the E-project was in its early stages. So, she transferred to the school when she was in her 7th grade. 1 week before Shinji arrives at NERV, she was wounded by the accident during a boot-up experiment, so at the beginning of the story, she was hospitalized. It is suspected that the cause of the accident is that her mind was not stable enough to control Evangelion Unit 0.

She is very quiet, and she never becomes emotional. She completes her duties perfectly. But, in front of Gendoh, she acts like a normal Jr. High kid.

Here are some extra notes:
She lives in an apartment by herself. It's a pretty bad environment. The area around the apartment is still under construction, and the noise is terrible.

She can't eat meat.

Her reason for being an EVA pilot its her only "bond to people".
