Breakdown: A spell gone bad (watch for a cameo by the Ninjahut pizza guys) drops the Slayers cast right into the middle of Tokyo-3. Sachiel, meet dragon-slave. Touji, meet Naga’s frighteningly elastic bosom.

Overall: 8 (for being incredibly funny)

Title: It Can Only Take One Night

Breakdown: Set just before the battle with the 7^th Angel, this is an "Asuka & Shinji Hook Up" tale.

Title: Neon Genesis Evangelion: A New Life

Series: NGE

Type: Drama

Originality: 5 (a lot of the series is composed of rather tires anime retreads).

Style: 4 (I don’t think that English is the author’s first language).

Breakdown: The plot does shine at times, but unfortunatley that happens all the infrequently. One of my biggest problems with this fic was that after the first installment, the series really had nothing at all to do with Evangelion. In my opinion, the author would have been better off making it an original series.

Title: Evangelion II: D.E.L.T.A Invasion

Type: Drama (with enough sex to almost make it a lemon)

Breakdown: To put it bluntly, this is the second worst fanfic that I have ever read. It’s an obvious self-insert fic, the plot is hokey, full of holes, and the characters are way the hell out of canon. This is one of the few fanfics that I actually regret reading.

Title: Neon Genesis Evangelion: R

Series: NGE

Type: Drama

Originality: 9

Style: 7 (I’m not incredibly fond of the script format that it’s written in).

Breakdown: Simply put, this is an incredible fanfic (you know it’s a great fanfic when other people start writing fanfics about it). Originally it was Eva-R was comprised of 26 episodes and two movies, but now also has a spin-off called R’(prime) which picks up at Episode 49, and continues on a divergent plotline.
