December
of 1997 signified yet another addition to
the list of anime music videos based on
works by the renowned 4-women group known
as CLAMP. The "WISH GIFT BOX"
is CLAMP's third music video release,
joining "CLAMP in WONDERLAND"
(1996) and "Double X" (1993).
The
"WISH" manga, by Mick Nekoi
(CLAMP), story by Nanase Ohkawa (CLAMP),
and published by Asuka Comics DX, centers
around the relationship between an angel
named Kohaku and a doctor, Kudo
Shuuichiro. Shuuichiro rescues the tiny
angel from an attack by a crow, and
Kohaku thanks him by offering him any
wish. However, Shuuichiro refuses the
wish, saying that he can fulfill his own
wishes. Kohaku decides to follow
Shuuichiro, in hopes of someday being
able to fulfill a wish for Shuuichiro
that he cannot realize on his own.
Included
with this 2 and a half minute long music
video is a CD single with 5 different
tracks (including "Wish", the
main theme song by Ali Project) and a
booklet, which contains character
designs, layout sketches for the video,
interviews, and song lyrics.
