National Leader
Australian citizen 30 – 35 years of age;
Able to prepare and lead a group of young people in a range of activities in a multinational environment;
Must be in good physical and mental condition;
A person preferably working in youth affairs, or involved in a youth organisation; and
Have an interest in and understanding of Japanese culture
Participating Youth
Australian citizens aged between 18 and 30 at 1 April 2001
Able to participate in the whole programme (trip lasts two months)
Must be in good physical and mental condition; and
Have an interest in and understanding of Japanese culture
What the Japanese Government will provide:
return airfares from nearest international airport in Australia;
sea voyage including all meals and drinks; and
transportation, accommodation, dining expenses and admission costs associated with
visits in Japan and other countries.
What participants will provide:
passport and visas;
medical and travel insurance; and
expenses for any medical treatment, hospitalisation etc, during their participation in the programme
What DETYA will provide:
co-ordination of the selection process
financial support for pre-departure workshop
