Chapter 51 - The Battle Begins
Yuwon orders Hong to kill Mai, but he won't do it. The other two boys attack Mai, while Hong pleads with them to stop. The chase is on, but a vision of Maki appears in the sky. Yuwon declares it's only an illusion created by Mai, but it almost blasts both boys before fading.
Ryu takes an elevator to the top of a skyscraper.
Yuwon and Perry plan to trap Mai, who unwittingly flies close to an
oil refinery. Perry blasts it, blowing Mai out of the sky.
On the ground, Mai is hurt, her clothes torn, but still finds the strength
to fly off.
Chapter 52 - If Only We Had Become Friends
Yuwon and Perry chase a weakened Mai through the city. She manages to hide from them, buying a few moments to rest.
Intetsu is riding his bike with Kuju behind him, heading to where they last saw Mai.
Yuwon discovers Mai, who blasts the window sending broken glass into
his face. Losing concentration, he falls to the street many storeys
below. Perry is left to face Mai alone. Ryu, Hong, Intetsu
and Kuju all look on. Perry tells her that he wishes they had met
before, so that they could have become friends. He believes it is
too late now as he's already killed someone. Mai tries to tell him
he's wrong, but he blasts her. Her eyes flash, and she returns the
blow, smashing a large whole through his chest. Wounded, Mai falls
from the sky.
Chapter 53 - Earth's Destiny
Hong sees Mai fall and dives after her, screaming her name. Ryu watches from a rooftop, calling out to Hong. On the street, Intetsu and Kuju also look on anxiously as they see three bodies falling from above. Hong manages to get beneath Mai just metres from the ground. Perry's body impacts harshly on the pavement, while Hong and Mai float less than a metre above the ground. Slowly, Hong raises them both back into the air, to the rooftop. Intetsu and Kuju are relieved. Mai regains consciousness partway up, realizing that Hong saved her, and that Perry was dead. On the rooftop Hong is startled to see Ryu. Ryu congratulates Mai on her impressive elimination of her rivals for leadership in the new world order. He declares he was right in choosing her to be the new queen. Mai demands to know why he made her kill them. Ryu informs her that it is her destiny. She rejects it, utterly, declaring that her mother gave her this power to maintain peace. She doesn't want to fight, but will defend the planet. The women of the Togakushi Shrine have maintained peace in Togakushi for millennia - protecting the earth. Ryu tells her that it is impossible to defy the Wisdom Alliance, but Mai declares that she will. They face each other silently. Hong apologizes for being unable to help Mai, but says he will never forget her. He flies off, leaving Mai alone - Ryu has gone.
The next day, Mineo is happily chopping vegetables in the kitchen of the Kuju's home, where she is now living. Intetsu tells Kuju that he's kind to let her stay. The two of them wonder what Mai spoke with Ryu about on the rooftop. Both are surprised at how much she has matured. Intetsu comments that it's time for her to return home, which sends Ron running out the door, almost tripping Mineo.
Yumiko, Rie and Mai are walking home, commenting on how strange it was that Hong's father was transferred again so soon, making him move to another school. Ron bounds down the street, leaping into Mai's arms. They all continue walking down the street, towards the setting sun.
End.
