List of Japanese Terms Used in Our Fics

Japanese-American Translations
Apparently, it sometimes suits the occasion to use Japanese words or phrases in our fanfiction, as we ARE going by the Japanese timeline and names for the Senshi and their powers. This page is intended to clear up any problems you might have. Dana usually only uses small words and I, myself, barely use anything, but it's nice to know what the writers are talking about, no?
Tsuki no Mikazuki - Literally, "Crescent of the Moon." This is the official name of our writing group.
Endings
Endings are used in Japanese to indicate a person's familiarity with another person. Common endings that we use follow.
-chan - Used with girls, close friends, and loved ones.
-san - Used with adults and is akin to American "Mr." or "Mrs." Also used when one teenager is talking to another teenager which they are unfamiliar with.
-kun - Used with boys or associates.
-sama - Term of near-worship of a person.
-sensei - Term indicating a teacher. It is attached to a person's last name(e.g. "Haruna-sensei").
Nani? - "What?"
Odango Atama - "Dumpling Head." Usagi considers being called this an insult of the highest degree(or she just blows it way out of proportion like she does with everything else).
Minna - "Everyone"
Youma - "Monster." Also, this is what the Sailor Senshi use to indicate the minions of the Dark Kingdom when comparing them to other creatures such as Ann and Ail's Cardians.
Hai - "Yes" or another term of affirmation.
Machinasai! - "Stop right there!"
Arigato - "Thank you"
Henshin yo - "Transform"
Kami-sama - "Oh my God."
I will add more terms as we use them. I'll also link all the Japanese words we use(except the endings) to this page on the HTML-ized fics. If that's how you got here, by the way, just return by pushing your web browser's "Back" button.
