Where does
the peorth name
come from?
This name, differently from the other Goddesses'
names, isn't related to the Norse Mythology. Instead, it has been grabbed
off a Runic letter also called Peorth.
The rune Peorth is the Norse rune of
initiation,
which translates roughly into the English alphabet "P".
Its meaning is to remain uncertain (even to me), but it represents
a secret matter, or something hidden.
Usually there are two meanings to every rune.
This depends upon whether or not a rune is revealed upright, or inverted.
This rune is a heiratic, or mystery rune pointing
to that which is beyond our frail manipulative powers.
peorth (pronounced perth)
is on the side of heaven, the unknowable, and has
associations with the phoenix (a mystical bird
which consumes itself in fire then rises from it's
own ashes). Powerful forces of change are at work here.Yet what
is achieved is not easily or readily shared. After all, becoming
whole - the means of doing so - is a profound secret.
On the side of the earthly, or mundane, there may
well be suprises, gains or rewards that you did not anticipate. On the
side of human nature, this rune is sybolized by the flight
of the eagle. Soaring flight, free from entanglement, lifting yourself
above the endless ebb and flow of ordinary life to aquire a broader vision-all
of this is indicated here.
Another of the cycle runes, peorth
stands at the heart of initiation. Nothing
external matters here, except when it shows you it's inner reflection.
This rune is concerned with the deepest stratum of our being, the bedrock
on which our destiny is founded. For some, peorth
means experiencing a death.
If need be let go of everything. No exceptions. No exclusions.Nothing
less than renewal of the spirit is at stake.
If peorth
has shown itself iverted, or reversed it is a counsel against expecting
too much, or expecting in the ordinary way, for the old way
has come to an end. You simply cannot repeat the old and not suffer.
You need to focus, and meditate on your own life at this moment, your own
requirements for growth.
peorth counsels you to neither
focus on outcomes nor to bind yourself the memory of past achievements.
In doing so, you rop yourself of a true present, the only time in which
self change can be realized. You may feel overwhelmed with exhaustion
from meeting obstruction after obstruction in your passage. Yet you always
have a choice: You can see this apparent negativity as bad luck, or you
can recognize it as an obstacle course, a challenge specific to the initiation
you are presently undergoing. Then each setback or humiliation becomes
a test of character.
When your inner being is shifting and reforming
on a deep level, patience, constancy, and perseverance are all called
for.
So stay centered,
see the humor,
and keep your faith firm.

gorgeous
rose,
she's Peorth's Angel and she
belongs in category "Earth". She was born off the Angel's egg
assigned to Peorth, and reproduces all her most piercing character features
and inclinations.
Even physically, she appears to be a gorgeous
resumèe of the Goddess she belongs to. Unlike other angels, who
wear some sort of cloth around their body,
Gorgeous Rose wears thick rose stems and spines. She's got long
wavy blonde hair, and deep brown eyes, that sometimes wear a shade of dark
green.
She's got a glamorous and convinced bent that's
the reflection and magnification of her Goddess' own one, and, like all
the angels, she's extremely fond and loyal to her Goddess.
Even though Peorth is not used to call her angel
frequently (she in fact prefers "working on her own"), Gorgeous Rose
has had occasion to prove useful and powerful..

Aa! Megami-sama!
Gorgeous Rose makes her first
appearence in the manga volume 12, when Belldandy
and Peorth engages in a "Megami 3 ban shoubu" (that is, Goddesses' Best-out-of-three
Duel), a duel which takes place in three "sessions". In the
first one the two Goddesses ought to call their respective angels and have
them "fight". In the Belldandy-Holy Bell versus Peorth-Gorgeous Rose
duel, the first couple resulted to be the winner, since Gorgeous Rose (as
well as Peorth) could not bear...tickling.

peorth,
first class, second category-
unlimited Goddess
she is the Helper Goddess dedicated at the maintainance of the
Earth Otasuke Center, the Yggdrasil Office
located in the Earth System.
Before assuming this role, she trained at Yggdrasil
Debug Section along with the Goddess Belldandy
who warmly enlightened her capacities to Us after a successful DuetMission
against a dangerous bug that was at the time highly
affecting the System. That very mission and the warm encouragements of
the Goddess Belldandy, other than the verification of her effectively remarkable
skills, drew Peorth to be entrusted of the maintainance of the Earth
Department of Yggdrasil.
Her Office is called to be at the same time a rival
and a supporter of the Yggdrasil Helper Goddess Office, currently administered
by the Goddess Belldandy.
For a physical description, she helds quite 'Eastern'
traits, her hair is of a dark raven colour which she decorates with auburn
dyes, her eyes glide of a dark amber tone, her skin is shaded of pale.
She wears diamond-shaped facial markings on
her cheeks and
in the middle of her forehead.
Peorth is a very estroverse and eccentric Goddess.
She seems to be wearing a thickly patterned mood,
or many moods at the same time. She can be very romantic and sweet
or extremely intrusive and
pestering, she is pretty unpredictable. She can act innocent like a
child, or experienced and maliced like
one of the Belle of New Orleans, she knows very little about shame,
nor she ever cared much about learning. She rans into one's life like a
tornado and swirls away like a hurricane.
On the other hand, she is extremely dedicated to her duty, she makes
her a point of honor to satisfy any call, and she puts lots of effort and
energy in her job. She's quite a perfectionist, so she'll nail off any
minor spot before leaving.
Her services have always been highly appreciated, and the Earth Section
has never been affected by problems directly regarding its maintainace,
just thanks to Peorth's great efficiency.

A View from the Goddesses
...
I hate to admit it,
but I like Peorth. Maybe it's just that we're similar in a way, and
I am undoubtedly in love with me exactly like she is with herself,
or maybe it's just the little big things we do not have in
common that stirs me to like her so much Whaterver it is, it is,
and, though not being a First Class Goddess yet, as she doesn't skip any
occasion to remind me, I really cannot lie about that.
Going specifical, though she's graciously pestering all the time she
reveals so seriously devoted to her duty that I can't help to admire
her. If I were in trouble I'd rather wish to have her on my side. Not that
I'm not faithful in my loving Sister, but, you know, Belldandy has
a her veryown special way to make you feel guilty. She doesn't
really mean it, but that's what she, even unwillingly, does. Not necessarily
instead, but Peorth has that free-land-mood that brings
you up from the grimmest situation, without you'd even realize. And
she probably won't expect, nor stay long enough for a 'thank you'.
---Urd, System Maintainer
I do love to admit it, I really
like and admire Peorth.
Not only she's a nice and beautiful person, but an exremely efficient
and devoted Goddess. After all, she had shown as a very promising
subject since the beginning. As reported in the Yggdrasil File, I had the
pleasure to work with her on one of her first important debugging
missions, for the success of which her role had been determining,
and, even though she steadily would state that it was just
a casual event, I'm sure it was not. Her skills were then as are
now noticeable and worth of a First Class Goddess. Evidence of it is also
that the EOC has never been so efficient until she held the control on
it.
The one and only fault she could (but shouldn't really) be "blamed"
of , is an excess of zeal. She's such impulsive and generous and eager
in every second of her duty-time that sometime this can disorientate, or
even overwhelm, or submerge the customer. But I guess that if she'd ever
manage to soften or edge or shade her pulses, it would end not only in
a loss of her preciousness, her unique personality, but also in a formal
loss in the quality of her job. Furthermore a First Class Goddess has to
be totally sincere and true even to herself. That is, also she has to
be herself as is, and not trying to change it,
but loving it, for what it is and what it is not. And that's
exactly what Peorth does. And, shouldn't everyone, by the way?

r e d i t s] ]
Peorth makes her first appearance in middle
of manga volume 11 , as the fourth goddess to be
summoned to the human lad Keichi Morisato. Her permanence by Morisato's
Temple lasted till the end of manga volume 12, when she leaves after having
finally granted Keichi's wish.
During her stay, she pesters Keichi in various
ways and eventually force him to dig out the wish he has been stubbornly
hiding and refusing to accept or even admit, the wish that in fact has
called and brought here there.
At the end of volume 12,
it is somehow unclear whether if Peorth ends up in falling truly in love
with Keichi, or if her eager ardour depends exclusively on her untiring
sense of duty. Though, it seems likely that this mortal lad has not left
the Goddess' feelings indifferent. And, certainly, she takes a good amount
of pleasure in accomplishing her duty with him.
She makes another brief intrance in chapter 94
of the manga (included in volume 16), where she
chases a ball of light which turns out to be Velpser, a boy that is introduced
later in that chapter. She appears again in chapter 97 (volume
16) and 98 (volume 17) and saves Keiichi from
getting killed by him.
So far, she is only a character in the manga series
and the games . Perhaps she will be in the Movie?
In the manga, she holds a continuous rivalry with
Belldandy, mainly due to the contrast of having a Double Contract settled
for Morisato by two (potentially rival) different Goddesses' Offices, but
also because of her 'feelings' about Keichi.
When she's not bothering Keichi in the attempt of satisfying his true
or presumed-to-be-so wish(es), she spends time reading romance comics,
which she loves. As she leaves earth in the end of manga volume 12, she
takes Skuld's entire collection of romance comics with her.
