Fist I need to thank my Buddhist holy image painting teacher, Chiang Hsio-han for teaching the finer points of painting these images. Actually I have only spent less than six months learning under him at one, two hour class per week, so he is not really responsible for what I have done to his art form. Further more, he taught me to paint with water colors on a special kind of paper just for this kind of painting; however I paint a scanned image on my laptop computer. In class my paintings are the worst of the whole class, made up of mostly housewives who are over fifty. So Mr. Chiang was impressed when he had seen one of my computer paintings that was at least a hundred times better than any thing that I had painted on paper. In his painting style it is a must to keep the colors very pure so that the images have a glow to them. It may take up to twenty hours to finish just one painting and if there is just one smug in all that time then the painting is useless. On the computer it is almost impossible to make that kind of mistake and if you do, it is easy to fix. Next I have a pen mouse hooked up to my notebook PC. The old style mouse, invented over 30 years ago is just not up to controlling a paint brush. It is called a GOGOPen. Don't you just love that name? Here the most important thing is that I have a pen that Touches a pad and a can draw with it. There you go, now all my secrets are out. |
