Gwan-yin is the name of is this deity. Pusa (Bodhiattva) is the level
of cultivation done by this deity. Pusa is the level just under Buddha
and there are ten levels of Pusa, Gwan-yin is at the highest of these levels.
The name Gwan-yin means contemplating the world sounds because Gwan-yin
sits in meditation listening to those who are suffering in this world and
helps them over come their suffering once and for all.
Namo means 'homepage' or 'take refuge in'. So we always say namo Buddha (take refuge in the Buddha), nomo Dhama (take refuge in Buddhism) and nomo Sangha (take refuge in the Buddhist monks and nuns). This picture is being posted on the internet on the 19th day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar August 9, 1998. The anniversary of Gwan-yin Pusa accomplished the way. |
