Links!
These are links to pages of interest to me. They include
people who've helped me with my fanfiction, the stories they've
written that have inspired me, and other fun places. Enjoy.
Prereaders and inspirations:
- Nicholas Leifker --
He wrote Sunrise/Sunrise Chronicles,
Clothes Make the... and a few other good stories.
- Richard Lawson -- Excellent stories (though I hate what
he did with Ranma, Kodachi, and Akane in his Rose series;
but it is infinitely better than the few other pro-Kodachi
stories I've read.) He has graciously allowed me to use Ranma's
children from Thy Inward Love and Magic in Ranma's Curse.
Thy Outward Part is why I wrote Ranma's Curse in the
first place.
- Lisa Prior --
Author of Sins of the Father, she is a
wonderful author. She, too, has graciously allowed me to
use her creation, Saotome Suteko, in Ranma's Curse. She
has a number of sites, but this is my favorite.
- Marisa Price --
She is currently writing A Lesson in
Love. It is an excellent series, taking place after Ranma
1/2 ends. It explores Ranma's and Akane's and Ryoga's and
Ukyou's relationships.
- Ronald Chan -- He has a number of synopsis and reviews of
manga series that are popular here and in Japan. His
takes go farther than what is currently available. It's
worth a look.
What I read:
-
Dave Eddy -- He has an excellent series called
Nekophobia. Akane is cursed to become a cat with cold
water, all in an attempt to drive Ranma to Shampoo. It
hits the fan when Ranma finds out Shampoo is, in part,
responsible for cursing Akane. The story is building to
an inevitable confrontation between Ranma and Cologne.
Very well done. A must read!
- G. L. Sandborn--
He's writing Nabiki: New Horizons.
It is excellent. The perfect blend of drama and humor.
Nabiki has married a rich American, Jeffery Lawrence, and
now must deal with raising a family of her own, and the
legacy she inherited from her mother. Watch for special
cameos by fanfic authors and American TV icons.
- Lord Archive --
He's new to the fanfiction circles, but
he has a wonderful story called Ranma 1/2: The
Insanity Continues. I'm helping him preread it, and I
love it. He has captured the characters well, with enough
changes to reflect their growing up.
- Mike Noakes --
He has an excellent series called Choices.
It focuses on the consequences of a fight between Ranma
and Akane, where she breaks the engagement yet again. Can
Ranma repair the damage done to their relationship by
careless words and actions on both their parts, or has he
lost the woman he loves forever? One chapter complete so
far, but I'm helping with part 2 (proofreading.)
-
John Biles -- Another great author. He has a number of
stories worth reading. The best, I think, is Dance of
SHIVA, a Bubblegum Crisis/Tenchi/Sailor Moon/Patlabor
x-over with more cameos and references than in any other
series I'm aware of. It is well written and is a must
read.
- Daigakusei no Ranma/Ukyou --
A good series that covers
the college life of nearly everyone in the series. Ranma
and Akane have finally married and are working on putting
aside their differences. A little shallow in some places
(like Ranma,) but otherwise great character
development.
- Lines of Destiny --
An excellent Ranma/Sailor Moon
x-over. Ranma and Akane marry before heading off to
college. They stay for a short time with his cousin, Rei
(aka Sailor Mars.) Ranma discovers he's the reincarnated
sister of Tuxedo Kamen, and Sailor Terra, the last of the
Sailors. Meanwhile, Akane is plagued by dreams of another
life, with Sailor Saturn. Another must read for both
Ranma and Sailor fans. (I'm not familiar enough with
Sailor Moon to know everyone.)
- Karsten's Favorites --
The only story I really read from this page is the Just a dream series, featuring the gang from Urusei Yastura. Unlike other UY stories, this one is serious with a touch of humor. The premise is that the series we're familiar with was nothing more than a dream shared by two people worlds apart. As Princess Redet Lum approaches Earth to begin her subjugation of humans, her dreams become stronger. It's up to her and Ataru to end the war before it starts. When I first read this, I was floored by the quality. THIS is the story that got me hooked on fanfiction.
Some really cool sites to go to:
- Shogakukan --
the publishers of Ranma 1/2 and any other story by Rumiko
Takahashi (English and Japanese.)
- ,a href="http://www.toppan.com/kodansha/index_e.html">Kodansha -- another large Japanse publisher with offices
in New York (English and Japanese.)
- Studio Gainex -- see what's next on their schedule
(Japanese.)
- Viz Communications --
get the latest from America's premier manga producer.
- J-Pop -- see the
latest in Japanese pop culture (English.)
