- Progressive Tense: "Am doing" / "Have done" / "I did (and the result is still in effect)"
ex. YASERU (1) "to become thin" - yasete iru "he has become thin and is still thin" i.e. "he is thin"
Kazuo ga YASETE IMASU.
He is thin. "(lit.) He grew thin and still has the effect of growing thin."

- "Has been done"
