The Story
One normal day at the Tokyo Tower, three girls from different schools were zapped to another world. Their names were Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu. There, they landed on a flying fish that took them to a short kid with a huge staff. Actually, the "kid" was over 200 years old, so then again...
Okay. This is not sounding like any classic fairy tale, huh? well, it's the begining of MKR.
I admit, I don't know a LOT about MKR, but I know what I get from my books. MKr has a total of six books. There are three in each part -- MKR 1 or 2. There is also an anime. The series is made by a group called CLAMP (yes, a group. Not just 1 person this time). You could say MKR is pretty much fantasy too. CLAMP is known for doing a lot of other works too.
Over the whole first part, the three girls try to become the lengendary Magic Knights to be able to save Princess Emeraude and go home to Tokyo. Along the way, they are assisted by people who live in Cephiro, like Clef, the *ahem* short kid, Presea, the chief artisan (she makes weapons), and Ferrio, the , um, guy in the woods. By and by, they find the three manshins-- =Rayearth, who Hikaru earns, Selene, who Umi earns, and Windam, who Fuu earns. Along the way, Zagato sends his people to defeat the three, but they always get killed or made good again. At the end the knights finally find Zagato, and battle with him. He is killed, and, out of grief, Emeraude transforms into a lady instead of a girl, and fights them. Hikaru is forced to kill her at the end. The series ends in tears as the girls return to the tower. You see, Emeraude had LOVED Zagato, which is why she was in grief when he died.
The second series is when the girls return, when Clef summons them. Back at Cephiro, they find that Ferrio is the PRINCE, Ascot(the little guys Umi had to fight in her test for her manshin) turned big, and other things. Most important of all, three neighboring lands are attacking Cephiro, and they needed the magic knight's help.
The three planets were attacking Cephiro at it's weakest point, when the world was unstable from the death of the princess. The girls agree to help, and the fighting begins. Lantis is also introduced. He is Zagato's brother, and had come back to Cephiro after being gone. The truth about the past with Emeraude and Zagato is also discovered.
This is about all I really know now, but I'll post more later! (plus, my hands hurt. :p)
