The Outer Senshi

From top to bottom: Meioh Setsuna, Kaioh Michiru, Tenoh Haruka(hugging Tomoe Hotaru)

   The outer senshi were the guardians of the Moon Kingdom, and were posted at far out places in the solar system. They start appearing in the series in Sailor Moon R.  The powers of the senshi also seem to be greater than that of the inners.

Meioh Setsuna - Sailor Pluto was originally not sent to Earth by Queen Serenity; she had not been killed by the Negaverse. Pluto guards the gate of time by herself, an often lonely job. (Later, Diana, the daughter of Luna and Artemis, keeps her company once in a while.)   Pluto was a good friend of Princess Chibi-Usa, who called her Puu. She is very powerful, and has the power to stop time, although that attack is forbidden of her. If she stops time, she is punished.  In Sailor Moon R, though, Pluto stopped time to save the kingdom, but died as a result. Later, she is reborn as Meioh Setsuna on Earth . She resumes her duty as Pluto when Neptune and Uranus appear.

Kaioh Michiru - Michiru is an elegant, famous violin player. She is often seen with Tenoh Haruka (Sailor Uranus) , and was on a mission with her as Sailor Neptune. At first, the two did not accept the help of the Inner Senshi, but eventually join them. The two, like all the outers, tend to not be part of the story very often.  Neptune is the one outer scout who seems to have a definite element for her attacks. Her attacks are related to the ocean. This is sometimes confused with Mercury, whose power is water. At first, Michiru goes to a private school with Haruka and Hotaru, but she joins the same high school as Usagi later. Michiru is in love with Haruka.

Tenoh Haruka - Haruka is a bold, "handsome" race car driver who is also very famous. At first, Haruka was depicted as a male idol, with tons of girl fans, but it turns out that "he" is really a she. Haruka is in love with Michiru.   As Sailor Uranus, she worked with Neptune, until the two joined the Inner senshi. Uranus has attacks that deal with the ground and the wind. . When the outers were taking care of Hotaru, Haruka posed as a fatherly person.

Tomoe Hotaru - Hotaru is a quiet, withdrawn girl who was deathly ill in Sailor Moon S. She lived with her father, who was a scientist. Her mother had died in a fire when she was young, and Hotaru had almost died. Her father, though, saved her with turning part of her body into a robot-like machine. Hotaru has a strange power of healing, so the other kids in school thought it was gross and made her an outcast.  She was often depressed as a result, and usually dressed in black. Hotaru made friends with Chibi -Usa. Later, she gave her spirit to Chibi-Usa to save her, and died. Sailor Saturn, who had been living in Hotaru, but was not supposed to be awakened, then woke again and destoryed the world with her most powerful attack, Death Reborn Revolution.  She did that so Sailor Moon could bring about rebirth to Earth.  As the world was reborn, Hotaru was reincarnated as a baby, and Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto took care of her.

    Later, in half a year, Hotaru comes back younger. She had aged really quickly, and was able to help the senshi as Sailor Saturn and Hotaru. (Before, Hotaru had died, and it was Sailor Saturn's duty to destroy the earth, for she had been bonded to not awaking) The reborn Hotaru is a happy girl, much unlike her previous life. She goes to the same school as Chibi-Usa when she live in 20th century Tokyo.  Saturn is arguably the most powerful senshi, second to Sailor Moon.
