Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon was first created by a manga artist named Naoko Takeuchi. The manga series is 18 books long. Later, it was made into an anime, ending up with a total of 200 episodes and 5 series. ^-^ Both the anime and manga had similar plots, though not completly the same. Sailor Moon is very popular, all over the world.
The Silver Millenium was a time of peace. The Moon was the home of Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity. All the other princesses of the planets were her friends and court. She was also in love with the prince from Earth, Endymion. (The English version is Darien) One day, though, the Negaverse attacked the Universe, and the Moon was destroyed. With the last of her strength, Queen Serenity sent all the sailor scouts and the Prince and Princess to a new life on Earth. Her advisors, Luna and Artemis were also sent to revive the girls' memories when the time came.
Thousands of years later, in Modern Tokyo, Japan
Tsukino Usagi got ready for school, yelling about how late she was. As she ran down the sidewalk, she passed a group of kids harassing a black cat with a crescant moon on its forehead...
The Manga
The manga for sailor moon is the first and most original version. It all started when Naoko came up with a series called Sailor V. That one was not as much of a success. Later, she came up with more senshi, and Sailor Moon was born. it was published by Kodansha in volumes. I think the art in the manga is beautiful!!! ^^
The Anime
When Sailor Moon was made into an anime, its popularity soared. Overall, there is five seasons in the whole series.
Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon R (Romance)
Sailor Moon S(uper)
Sailor Moon Super S
Sailor Moon Stars
Season summaries (very short ones)
WARNING: Spoiler Alert!!!
Sailor Moon:
This is the first season, and introduced everyone to the characters and basic plot. it starts out with only Usagi, a ditzy high-school girl. Soon, Luna finds Usagi, and awakens her powers as Sailor Moon. Eventually, Luna and Usagi find Ami, who is Sailor Mercury, Rei, Sailor Mars, Makato, Sailor Jupiter, and Minako, Sailor Venus. Tuxedo Kamen also makes his entrance here. The villians for this season are Queen Beryl and the negaverse generals (Jedite, Nephlyte, Zoicite, and Malachite) The end of the season reveals who the Moon Princess is and what had happened to the Moon Kingdom.
Sailor Moon R
This series is where Chibi-usa comes in! ^-^ She fell on top of Usagi and Mamoru just as they were kissing in a park, i think.. Anyways, this series introduces the future Crystal Tokyo and Neo Queen Serenity. The Villians this time are the Four sisters, Rubeus, Wiseman, and Prince Dimando. Diana and Pluto also come in here.
Sailor Moon S
This is a long season, where Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn come in. Pluto comes back, and the senshi are complete. You learn a lot about the outer senshi and what they do here. The villians are Dr. Tomoe, Mistress Nine, the Witches Five.
Sailor Moon Super S.
I don't know much about this one. The main focus is Chibi-usa. Helios is introduced, from the future. The outers hardly ever make appearances in this one, too. The villians are the Amazon Quartet( who become the Astroid Senshi) the Amazon trio, and Nepherenia. At the end, Neperania does not die and that leads into...
Sailor Moon Stars
The final series! First, the Nepherania arc is finished, where Sailor Moon cures Nepherania. Then, the Starlights come to earth in search for Princess Kakyuu. They are disquised as the popular band, the three lights. Meanwhile, Mamoru goes to America for college. Galaxia's henchmen, the Animates (Sailor Iron Mouse, Sailor Aluminum Siren, Sailor Lead Crow, and Sailor Tin Nyanko) search earth for the sailor's starseeds.
Finally, at the end, the sailors confront Galaxia. eventually, Sailor Moon makes her good again, for she had been influenced by chaos. The Starlights and the Princess go back to their planet, and Usagi and Mamoru are reunited.
MISCELLANEOUS INFO
The names in the English and Japanese versions are somewhat the same, though some have a pretty big contrast, like Chibi-usa.
Usagi ---- Serena
Rei ---- Raye
Ami ---- Amy
Makato ---- Lita (short for Hipolyta)
Minako ---- Mina
Mamoru ---- Darien
Chibi-usa ---- Reenie
The English Sailor Moon is on on Cartoon Network at 4:00 PM and Channel 50 in the morning on Saturndays! ^-^
Usagi- the japanese name for Sailor Moon means bunny! ^-^ isn't that cute? Her whole name, Tsukino Usagi, means the Moon Rabbit, or Bunny of the Moon. (Tsuki = moon , no = of , Usagi = rabbit Note: If you directly translate it as I have here, it will end up as the moon of the rabbit. That's not right. :p You have to think in terms of Japanese, so think of it as, the Moon's Rabbit)
Why is Usagi and her mom's hairdo so "meatball"-like? Well, the two balls of hair on the top of their heads show the full moon!
