I got this CD the same time as I got Misia's "Love is the message" & I listened
to it right after Misia's. I was disappointed. Tina's voice was low & moody &
so was the music. It kinda depressed me because Misia's album, although R&B
as well, seemed so cheerful & upbeat, so I was in that kind of mood.

Well, a few listens later, the songs really grew on me! I that this is probably
the best J-R&B/soul album I've heard! What was once a depressing voice to me,
is now Lauryn Hill-esque. The music that seemed so moody is now souful music
with a bit of funk added to it.

* Not surprisingly, Nishihara Akira, who arranged some of Utada Hikaru's
songs (Automatic, Amai Wana, B&C, Another Chance & Give me a reason),
arranged all the songs except track 10 on Tina's CD!!!

* BTW, click on the below to hear the sound samples.

   1. I'll Be There (album version)--(a single) The
album version has about 50 secs of traffic sounds in the beginning.
      A great medium-paced song.

   2. I Can't Take It--A funk song. Didn't like it at first,
      but it grew on me.

   3. As A Singer--Whoa. This song scares me. Tina's voice
sounds slightly vampiric when she sings the beginning of each verse.
      The music is also eerie.

   4. Magic (album version)--(a single) I don't know how the
single version sounds like, so I can't make a comparison. This song is
upbeat & a great dance song!

   5. flower--A laidback jazz-type song. Another great one!!!

   6. Feel Out!--A moody techno song. A a bit too aggressive
      for my taste.

   7. Stay for me ~wasurete agenai--The music kinda reminds me
of Utada Hikaru's "Never Let Go." However, Tina's voice sounds excellent
in this song, while Utada's vocals in "Never Let go" sound weak, so I
      like this song way better!

   8. Still--A dark medium-paced song. Pretty good!

   9. L'Adieu--The first time I heard this song, I was cringing
at the lyrics (I typed them exactly they appeared in the book) & her
pronounciation, but now I consider it one of my all-time favorites.
The tune is from Etude, No.1, Op.10 by the famous composer Chopin.
If you were/are in school band, you'll probably know this song (hey,
      Les did). Tina absolutely sounds like Lauryn Hill in this one;
      beautiful vocals!!!

  10. Spend the Time--A cool, laidback reggae-ish song. Another
      fave!

Rating 9 out of 10!!!
(I'd give Misia's Love is the message an 8, BTW.)
