The Monster review

My first reaction listening to thiis album was confusion...DCT has changed
their music style yet again. In their latest album, there are many R&B
influenced songs, but DCT adds their own uniqueness to it. I couldn't
really get into the songs except for the 2 singles and a handful of others
that sounded like the DCT that I knew, but several listens later, I can't
get most of the songs out of my head. The R&B ones, even though they
seemed weird at first, grew on me. This is a very good album by DCT but
not as great as some of their previous ones (not including Sing or Die).

   1. Opening Theme ~the monster is coming~--Tribal
sounding. Kinda scary cause they keep on saying, "The monster is
        coming for you."

   2. Nante Koi Shita n Daro--(What a love I had!). 2nd single.
Has an R&B flavor. I didn't like this song when I first heard it
on Pop Jam, but listening to it on this album made me realize
that it's pretty good. Towards the middle, this song gains momentum
which makes it very danceable. Then at the it slows down till it
has the same beat as the beginning.

   3. Mitsubachi--(A bee) This song seems slightly rushed or tense
to me. Kinda weird, but it's not bad now. Listen for the "bee"
        buzzing (BUUN) noises. Eerie.

   4. go on, baby--An R&B-ish song, DCT style. I thought this song
was weird. It's actually good though. Pays tribute to music gods:
Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Barry White, John (Lennon?), Paul
        (McCartney?).

   5. KIREI KIREI--(Pretty pretty) A slow sensual sounding song.
Miwa's vocals are beautiful in this one.

   6. make me your own--an R&B song. Miwa's vocals are a bit
too loud & distracting during some parts. Not bad, but it sort of
drags at times. Especially when anticipating the next song.....

   7. Asa ga Mata Kuru--(Morning will come again) A single. This
is a cute song with R&B qualities, but it's very catchy. One of my
favorite DCT songs. It just makes you wanna sing along or dance
        to it like a fool.

   8. FUNKA-MONSTER--

   9. Monkey Girl Bangai Hen "GANBARE Atashi"--
(Monkey girl extra edit "Go me!") Another song about the monkey
girl. Who is she? Where's her boat this time (song 1, song 2)?
This song reminds me of a Hawaiian song. It's cute. Very similar
to the previous Monkey Girl songs.

  10. Toukyou ATLAS--(Tokyo Atlas) This song sounds like the
DCT that I know. It's a great song. Gets a bit fast in the middle.

  11. NUDE no Yoru--(The nude night) Another R&B influenced song.
It's too distracting during the chorus parts because of the crowd,
        clapping, etc. Eh.

  12. Mikazuki--(The new moon) This song is somewhat depressing
during the chorus parts. It's very eerie to me. The verses are
nice, though. Don't really like this.

  13. Yume de Atteru kara--(Because we meet in dreams) nice song.
        Has a jazz-kind of feel.

  14. come closer--A nice medium-paced song. Sounds familiar.
The chorus seems very rushed, but I still like it.

  15. dragonfly--A sad, but nice sounding song. Dedicated to
        Gene Page.
