Fanfic writing
Now there's something that's fun to do. Not to mention read.
Before you write a fanfic, you should have an idea of what you want your
fanfic to be about. What usually works out best is writing out the plot. Just
like a basic outline. When you start writing your story (if it's a muliti-
parter), another good idea is writing the plot out for that specific chapter.
If you get ideas for your fanfic, type or write them down as quickly as
possible. Sometimes you get an excellent idea for a scene, and then you forget
it. For some people, they get their ideas at night. That's a time where you
might not be near a computer. So try to keep a pen and sheet of paper handy.
Something about writing a fanfic is trying to keep the characters personalities as they are. If you need to change their personas to fit the plot, you might mention that in your author's notes. Of if you're planning for your main character to change, evolve, then try to make sure that you write how they change. ^_^
After finishing your story, or chapter, read it over and try to catch any mistakes that you might have made. Give it to a friend to edit it for you. Sometimes, you don't catch your mistakes and you send it in. Try not to let that happen.
Writer's block is one of the WORST problems you can encounter while writing your fanfic. It's just a **HORRIBLE** thing that happens. If you get writer's block, something good to do is give your story a rest for a while. Not give it up, but just take a break. Go do something with your friends, read another fanfic or book, watch TV. Maybe you just got too involved in your story that your brain is screaming for a break. Trying to get rid of writer's block can be hard. A good thing to do is ask a friend to look over your story. Maybe they can give you their opinion and also help you while they're at it. I think that's one of the best things to do.
Well, I hope I mentioned some ideas that'll help you get started. I know I'm not the best writer out there, but hey, who is? There are many GREAT authors out there. Who knows, after you write yours, you may become one of them. ^_^
