**Chapter Two: Love Never Sleeps**
The girls decided to have a sleepover---none of them could sleep anyway
after seeing the picture. They hoped either Luna or Artemis could shed
some light on the images they saw.
They headed to Lita's apartment since they wanted privacy, and Rei wanted
to avoid seeing Chad if she could.
"Hey, maybe we should start without Serena." said Rei "She's late again...
we shouldn't have let Darrien run her home to get her things. I bet they've
gotten carried away togheter....This is so like her." Rei went from
annoyed
to extremely annoyed.
"She needed to see her parents first." Ami interjected into Rei's
fuming....
"And you know that's not fair. Our parents worry about us--and you don't
think she could go out with Darrien and call her father and say "Hey, I ran
into Lita and I'm going to crash at her place" and he would accept that? "
Rei calmed a bit. "Still, she's taking a long time. She should have been
here by now." Inside, she was really worried that something might have
happened to Serena...
A loud knock on the door startled them. Lita opened it to reveal a
breathless Serena. "Hi! Sorry I'm *pant* pant* late" She gasped for
breath. "My father almos didn't <>let me go! In fact, he didn't.
He sent <>Darrien home, and told me I could hang out with my<>
friends tomorrow night at our house! <>You'd think I
was growing younger the way he treats me!"
"How'd you get here then? " Mina asked."Did Darrien give you a ride?"
"Of course not--I wouldn't be so out of breath then!" She gasped
for breath, while the other three exchanged a "yeah right" sort of look...
" I disguised myself and snuck out...I couldn't think of another way to
do <>>it...and this is important." She said. "I ran all the way
here!" She placed Luna down.
Luna came forward and stared at the picture. "Somehow, the scene seems
familiar, but I can't place it."
Artemis curled around Mina's foot. " That's what I said. I think you may
need to ask Greg about his visions Ami."
Ami frowned. "I don't think he knew any more than what he said. I think
he wanted to know why--just as we do."
Just then, Lita brought out her cookies and tea. " Any luck?" She said
as she poured.
"Well I think we should do something." Serena grabbed a handful of the
cookies...and under a glare from Rei put some back for everyone else.
"OH! Why didn't we think of *that* before...Do something! What do you
think we're doing? " Rei snapped. " What would you suggest, Princess?
Kidnap Greg and interrogate him? Turn into scouts and transport
somehwere?
Kidnap Sussanah (Setsuna) and travel through time!"
"Hey! That last things not so bad!" said Mina and Serena
at the same time.
They looked at each other and giggled. The others groaned.
"Great minds sink alike!" said Mina. Everyone groaned again.
"I don't think that would work or assist us" said Ami.
"Actually, " Luna said "Susannah may be able to help. We don't
know the full panalopy of her powers, just as we didnt know all
your attacks right away. Besides, she may remember more from that
time than do we--and because we are asking her about hte past she may
for once tell us."
Lita picked up the phone..."Should we get her attention the ol' fashioned
way, or do we want to scout her up?"
"Let's not get carried away. We don't know that the picture and
Gregs visions are representing any sort of a threat. I think we
should ask her to join us." Ami said quietly. "Let's try to be calm."
"It's after 10, isn't it sort of late to say "Hey, haven't talked
to you in awhile, but we Ôd like to hang out with you?" Said Rei
"That would be awkawrd"
"Well...if it's not late it's never!" Mina said "if we don't
consult her, we'll not likely get anywhere else on what this
means...if it means anything...."
Serena decided she should be the one to speak to Susannah.
The phone rang, and after one ring, a rather sleepy voice
answered "Hello? This is Susannah"
Serena plunged right in "Hi! Susannah, it's me. We were wondering
if you could meet us over here."
"Excuse me, Who's "Me"? And where's "here"?" The voice was sounding
less groggy.
"Did I Wake you? Oh, I"m sorry, I didn't think it was that late...
uh, it's Serena."
"IS Something Wrong" Susannah said forcefully.
"Not exactly...but I'd appreciate it if you could come over to Lita's.
Do you know where it is?"
"Yes. I will be there shortly. Should I bring the others?"
"No, you don't need to disturb them."Serena replied
"Good. Erica (Haruka) and Michelle (Michiru) are out anyway, and Holly
(Hotaru) just went to sleep. I was about to myself....I'll see you in
a few minutes."
"bye!" Serena said, as she put down the receiver. "You know, she must
be living a very boring life over there...she never seems to go out with
Erica & Michelle, she's always seems to have the babysitting duties! But
I guess it beats the time gate."
"Is it safe for her to leave Hol alone like that?" Mina wondered "Do you
think one of should go over there?"
"No. She might look like a child, but remember, she can take care of
herself just the same as you. Besides, she's now 13 years old...barring
any other reversions to infancy." Artemis said. "You were starting your
training at that age."
"Well...let's watch a movie!" Lita said, turning on the TV and VCR....
."I've got some great Anime tapes..."
A newscaster on the TV was finnishing up a story about the "Bermuda
Triangle Ôs
recent clone--a region southwest of Japan, towards Australia, has
suddennly
reported ships dissappearing. "
She changed the channel to get the TV to the chanel the VCR plays on. She
paused briefly on the "Cooking Channel" "Markets usually have the
freshest
fish, and this type is usuall in season. I'm afraid I had to adapt the
smoked eel dish I was going to show you--and I'll show you somethng with
trout instead...Unfortunately, Right now, the ocean fish texture seem a
little weird--you can tell because.." Mindful of her guests, she changed
the channel.
"Any Sailor V classics?" asked Mina excitedly.
"NO!!" everyone shouted....She giggled nervously "I was just kidding.
Let's watch some Ranma 1/2, Magic Knight Rayearth...or Slayers...
gosh, don't you guys just think Gouri is awesome? What a hunk!"
"He's an idiot! " Rei shot back "That's like drooling over......well,
drool. Now,if you want to talk classics, as well as hunks, the guys
in Ronin warriors on the other hand..."
"Oh please! " Mina said laughing..."What's wrong with watching MKR
then?"
"Girls being transported to a kingdom, and getting magical powers--it's
so unrealistic!" said Rei..
"Uh, Sailor Mars," Mina said "Isn't that the pot calling the Kettle, pot?"
Ami sighed, and sat down with her neuroscience today magazine..she'd
been dying to read that new article.
Lita grabbed a cooking magazine, and flipped. "You guys fight it out.
I like Ôem all." She got a dreamy look, "..although Zelgadiss in
Slayers does remind me of my old boy---"
"Serena, what do you think?" Mina and Rei asked, rounding on her.
"Uh..I'm hungry? " Serena was glad it was Mina and not her that had
gotten into it with Rei. We're too old to stick our tongues out at
each other anymore! She thought...and she watched as Rei scowled at
Mina, who just smiled right back as they debated what to watch...Well,
no matter that we sort of look alike, I guess we are *pretty* different.
Better her than me!
They were halfway through an introduction on what they selected to watch
when the door bell to the apartment sounded.
Lita let Susannah in. Dressed in long black crepe silk flowing slacks,
and a fitted dark red, almost black, raw silk vest, she looked
quite sophisticated...
"So, how's the fashion design business going?" asked Serena..."That's
one way cool outfit."
"Thank you." Susanna smiled, a faint blush adding color to her darker
skin. " This was one of the lesser pieces I did. I think things are
going well...with' Erica's and Michelle's financial, creative, and
emotional support, I suppose I couldn't do anything but well. " She
thought to herself, and I work very hard...I'm used to that, and I have
nothing else to do.
"Late night last night?" Said Lita as she brought over some green tea.
She knew Susanna liked that a lot. Lita was thinking, well we'd better
get her in as good a mood as possible so she cooperates this time.
"Yes. I've been working on my spring collection--and I have a deadline.
..and I'm running out of time....ironic that I should run out of time,
isn't that?" She said sitting down. "So, why did you need to see me?"
Everyone looked over at Ami, who supposed that because it was her picture,
she needed to show it.
"I had a ...friend....who drew this...."
"interesting" She said staring at the picture. "Your friend is a
good artist. Quite imaginative setting. That looks just like the
Moon Castle, of the Silver Millenium"
Mina gasped. "Are you sure?"
"Well, it's been...more than awhile. But yes." She paused, lowering the
painting, and stared at Ami. "What is this about--this is more than a
drawing isn't it?"
Ami drew in a breath, and then said evenly "My....friend, he has this
psychic ability--he used to get visions of the future."
"Did he?" Susanna said, her eyes widening a little. "That's odd."
"Yes, well, he did. Only lately, he's been having dreams about..."
She pointed to the picture "That." When no one jumped in, she continued.
"He told me that...well, in short, I am or will be or was in love
with that man."
"I can't reveal the future, Ami. Not even for any of you and
you know that." Susanna said.
Serena started to speak, but Rei beat her to it. "Of course.
.but what about the past?"
"The past?" came the reply. "I suppose I could tell you wha
t I remember...but I Ôm afraid I don't remember."
"But you recognized the castle!" Lita said in surprise.
"Yes. But it's strange...when I was reborn, I lost many of the
memories that I did have. That's why I haven't returned to the
time gate, or to the future with Reenie...oh, at first I was here
because I was needed here because of Galaxia. But the time for the
Messiah has gone..and .that misssion is over..."
"So you can't tell us anything?" Serena said sadly.
"Not from my memory, no." She paused...."But, maybe I can do
something else."
"What?" Everyone said excitedly.
"This time staff has been around for ever, I suppose--and maybe
there is a way to tap into what it knows about the past. " She
said. "I sometimes can use the orb to sense what is going on "when" I
want to land....although I haven't travelled through time...lately. "
"So what are you suggesting?" Luna said.
"I think, maybe, if I used the power of the staff, I could tap into
your transformation wands to find out what you all knew from the past..."
She paused..."I'm simply guessing basing this on the physical principles
that I know so far about my powers, and the nature of time/space...
Ami, maybe you could help me figure this out."
The two bent their heads over the computer, and everyone else returned
to watching the anime, as it was too boring as they argued about how
to use Susannah's time powers without travelling...
"We've got it." It was now after 3 am, and everyone was very sleepy.
"Huh?" Serena said "Darrien?" She said, hugging the pillow next to her.
"Come on Serena..." Luna said, nudging Serena with her chin.
"Just one kiss, Darrien..ThenI'll wake up..." Serena said,
sleepily,sloppily kissing Luna's head..."YOUUUK...I've got cat
hair in my mouth!" With a bolt, Serena ran to the sink.
"Well, I like kissing you Luna." said Artemis at Luna's shocked,
offdened expression
"Not for a millenia you no good..." She started to chase him, and he
bounded away. "Hey, what'd I do this time?" he said running for cover.
Everyone laughed .
"So what did you figure out? " Mina asked, as they calmed down.
"It's well, not simple...but if we use Serena's power, and Susannah's,
well, we might be able to "tap" into the memories hidden in your
transformation wands, the crystal, and locked inside yourself...
everything targetted to understanding that picture." Ami said.
"It'll be different for each of us. Essentially, we'll each remember
the scenes and strong emotions that resonated near one of the objects
--or us, of everyone who was there"
"It's pret we'll need Michelle's mirror to help show us the images..."
Susannah
finnished.
"Well, would you like to sleep here?" Lita said, as the other girls
spread their sleeping bags around the small room.
"No, I should get back."
"Wait" Serena said as Sussana gathered her bag. "I'll call Darien
and have him drive you home. It's pretty late. I'd worry about you."
"ME? " Sussanah smiled. "I'm a SailorScout, remember! Besides, I'd
rather you didn't trouble him."
"No problem, he's in the next building anyway. I know he woudln't mind."
She said moving to the phone.
Susannah got a weird expression on her face, and blushed.."Really. DON"T.
If you must, call Ericka's cell phone. She'll come and get me...
They're probably done with the concert they wanted to see hours ago."
A few minutes later, Susannah left in the gold sports car with
Erika and Michelle (who agreed to try the experiment the next day.)
"She's always so funny about Darrien." Serena said, as she snuggled
under her blankets.
"I think she has a crush on him, don't you? Poor thing." Lita said.
"She needs to get out more."
Rei muttered "I know he's Serena's Mr. Wonderful, but believe me,
a girl can get over him. Don't pity her or anything."
"Personal Experience speaking?" Lita giggled sleepily.
She was rewarded with a pillow smashed upside her head.
