Chapter 8: Stealing Memories; Fighting a Sea of Emotion

"Molly?" The voice inquired hesitantly.

"Yes...who is this?" Molly said. "OH, it's you Serena..."

Serena felt a bit chagrined that Molly didn't recognize her
voice immediatey...but she was relieved that she did.
Had it been that long since she'd called her?  Sailor
business took a lot of time.  And then, having a boyfriend
 did too--Molly's spent alot of  time with Melvin, just
as Serena did with Darrien.

"I know we haven't had a chance to do much lately--
and I miss that." She could say that truthfully..
she felt a bit bad that it was business essentially
that was leading her into calling.  Ah, for when
friendship was so easy, and they could spend time
singing and pretending to be stars!  Well, that
was growing up for you.

"I know...I've missed you too...so you want to join
Melvin and Me for Prune and Vanilla shakes--they're
 actually good once you try one!"

Serena grimaced (Yeah, she thought, if you have
ove to wash the taste right out!) "Uh, no, what I had
 in mind was a good old' girls' night out kind of thing
--see, my friend Erika, well she got these tickets to the
races and Darrien wants to go...I thought well, why not
let him take Melvin.  That way you and I could"

"Oh that's great!  The four of us could have dinner
 first too!" Molly said "I'm so glad.  I'll talk to you
 later after I see if Mel's in. Bye!"

Serena put the phone down softly.  The first part was
 in motion. Hopefully Darrien wouldn't kill her for
sending him off with Melvin.  Somethings/people didn't
 change much...and poor Melvin was still your average
stereotypical nerd...She suspected he would one day
grow into more...After all, if the Princess D could
look great without her glasses, maybe Melvin would
too...but right now Molly still had much work before her.

She looked up at Mina who was lazily reading a comic
 book on her bed.  "I hope this works."

"It will.  It should." Mina said absentmindedly.
"HeY!!!  That's not fair, really, they're making me
 look so weak."

"What are you talking about?"

"This Sailor Moon  comic...I wouldn't get blasted
*that* much.  I'm much stronger.  And I'm not that
much of an idiot.  I'll get them for using my name
for vanity. "

"Taking your name in vain-- but  that doesn't apply."
Corrected Artemis.

"I wonder how the others are faring?  No word yet?"
 A worried Luna pondered.

"The seas sure are rough aren't they?" Lita asked.
She liked the motion, as it exhilerated her.

Weakly Rei agreed.  She was ok, but the sensation was not
great.  She just didn't want to admit it to Lita.

"Give me the calm temple any day" She thought.

Ami, having taken a motion sickness pill, was
quitely sailing along with no trouble.

"We're nearing the edge of this.  The readings
I'm getting are fantastic.  We should be on gaurd."

"Aye Aye Skipper"Lita joked.

Suddenly a huge wave washed over--the intensity of
the swells driving with increasing force.  And then,
they saw it--a huge fin, headed straight for them.

"What is that?" Rei asked, as she closed her eyes
to reach for clues--she could feel much negative energy
but also much that was simply nature.

Lita frowned. "Well, whatever it is, it better get
out of our way or I'll be serving a little fish and chips."

Ami shook her head "Lita, be careful. You're electricity
 on water may be a little too dangerous."

"Oh!  I hadn't thought of that." She said.  "Well, there
are always those new oak attacks I've developed."

Rei nodded..."It's avoiding us--it's swimming around."

Ami looked out of the cabin " IT's like a ghostyard of
ships out there---and this life form--it's grown much larger
 than this species of whale is supposed to get.  They're
 normally peaceful animals...this is strange-"
She suddenly screamed her transformation phrase---as she
realized the huge fish like creature was creating a
whirlwind around the ship===it was going to drown them.
 "Quick transform!"

"Mars Planet Power"
"Jupiter Planet Power" <>

The two girls reappeared, clad like their friend ready for battle.

"How do we stop it?" Jupiter asked. She was poised
to strike but she realized that might not be the best thing.

ÔMaybe if I freeze part of the water?" Mercury said,
 sending a freezing blast -it wasn't enough to truly
freeze all of the water.  "Its moving so fast...we need
to slow the fish down!"

"Maybe if I hit it!" Jupiter sasid--sending out a
strike of lightening targeted, the dragon snapping
and barely missing it's target, it hit and sent a
huge shock across the ship it did it.  "Uh, sorry."
She tried again, this time, shocking the whale out of
it's path...the waves sent it around, and then it
 turned closer in--as it tried to bite into the ship.

"That's using magic force" Mars said She singed it away
 with a fire ball.

"Let's hide a little--can't we use the fog?" Lita
 asked...manueving the ship away again.

"Sonar. Wouldn't help.  The fog would just confuse
*us* a little. Besides- what ever I think is wrong
 is *inside* that whale."

"Inside?"

"I'm afraid, we're going to need to get inside that animal..."

"How do we do that!?" Sailor Mars and Jupiter said.
 Each was poised to attack the animal again.

"If we kill it, we'll end up with a serious problem.
 If it sinks--well, we'll never reach what's inside of it."

"Well...then we need a harpoon." Lita said.
"I don't feel good about killing a whale though."

"I know--how do we get to what's inside of it
otherwise?" Mars said. "Wait- what's that over there?"

Suddenly they could see the beast had led them to
an island of sorts, small and nestled between the lost ships.

"Let's get it to go aground...if we can confuse it--
it may beach itself." Mercury said.

"What about us?  We don't want to destroy the boat!"
Lita frowned as she steered out of its way again.

"Right now, we're stuck.  We need help.  Let's call
the reinforcements!  WE could really use Venus's chain right now!"

"Why so that thing could pull her in there with it?"Jupiter said
"Wait- there's some rope isn't there?"

"Yes."Mars said handing a thick heavy cord to Jupiter

"How good a swimmer are you Mercury?" Jupiter asked.
 "Think you could dive around that thing?  Tie it up?"

Mercury swallowed.  "I don't think I could manage that.
 I have a different idea." She took a breath, and then
created a huge wall of ice sloping down around the creature--
an ice slide up to the island.  "Let's get it to
follow us up the slide"

They turned around again, and this time, the boat's
forward motion carried it up the slide onto the island.
 The whale followed.

"That's no normal whale." Jupiter  said exiting the
boat with the others onto the island.  "It's got legs."

Indeed, the animal had shrunken in size and gathered legs.
 It was using those to chase after them.

"I feel it's evil!" Mars said.  She grabbed a slip of
 paper--"Evil Spirit Begone!" She cried as she darted
 close to it and slapped it with the paper.
The paper slid right off the slick skin.
It raised a foot to kick her--but stumbled as a
blast of lightening stopped it.

A huge blast of ice followed a second later,
freezing it--"Mars--are you ok?"

"I'm fine.  This sea creature is not responsible.
We need to get the evil out of it...and for that--I
 think we need Sailor Moon to heal it."

"I agree.  Well, I put that fish on ice--but I
don't really want to kill it.  Care to create a
 pool Mars?" Ami said, eyeing the surface of the island...
She began to scuplt a huge wall of ice, in a pool,
 and filled it up.  Mars sent blasts of fire to melt the water.

Jupiter picked the frozen creature up by its mutant
legs and threw it into the pool.  "Good thing I have
gloves" She said grinning.  "This is one fish I *dont*
want to handle"

"I've located the source of disturbancess, *inside*
the stomach of the whale creature. It must have
swallowed something that is producing the strange
disturbances." Mercury said into the communicator.

"Want to try a little surgery?" Jupiter said
 "It's a whale, but I'm sure I could cut it up..."

"NO!  I don't want it to die if possible.  We need
some way of getting the source out, without cutting the animal."

"I agree." Rei said. She was feeling some strange
 presence.  "Something's alive in there."

"Well, we could try to ...no.." Jupiter shook her head.
  "I can't think of anyway to go down through the mouth."

"Maybe by forming a net, and we can throw it down?"
 Mars suggested, fashining the two harpoons and net
into a crude sling of sorts.

"We don't even know how big the object is" Jupiter
countered as Mercury stated "It's crystaline, 8 feet
across 4 feet wide. Something I can't detect may be inside it
..it doesn't seem pure crystal through."

Jupiter dove into the water, pushed the creatures mouth
 open, and used her body to jack it open.  "Mercury,
 maybe a little ice-prop would help?"

Mercury created two pillars of ice which forced the mouth open.

Jupiter stepped out.  "Let' me at it." She said throwing the sling
down..."Got it...." No...She said..."She sighed "This is just like
that stupid claw game at the arcade. I never win that."

"I can sometimes force things--but I'm more
precognitive than telekinetic."

"Too bad I'm not Game Machine Jupiter." Jupiter
 grinned trying again.

"That's it!" Mercury said.  "We need to hunt up
that Game Machine Joe!  Just like Greg retained his
 precognitinve ability, if somewhat modified, I'm
 sure Joe still has telekinsis."

"We can't drag him here!" Mars snapped..."Are you crazy!"

"As a rainbow crystal carrier--they absorbed
a lot of energy.  With ours to boost his power,
 he should be able to pull whatever it is out--without
 hurting the animal. None of the scouts has a power
 that would work like that."

"Venus's chain could..."

"If Sailor Moon has to leave Molly, she cant
explain that...we need to get Venus to cover for her. They
both can't come."

"I guess you're right." Jupiter said.   "Let's get
the reinforcements then. "

"How do we find Joe though?" Mercury said beginning
to start calculating.

Jupiter blushed.." As it happens, Ken is friends
with Joe from school...I just happen to know where
they are tonight.."  Rei looked at Jupiter's blush
"happen to know?"

"Ok, I asked Ken...I'm not stalking him...but
a girl needs information so she can "run into"
a guy!"

"Let's get on with it then!"Ami said.

Chapter 9: Hit the Arcade--it's Game Machine Joe?

"That's really funny Molly" Serena chuckled.
 They were seated in Serena's living room.

"Wow this is mature" They were drinking
tea.  Melvin and Darrien had left, to go to the
race track  earlier, right after Dinner.  Serena
rubbed her arms.  Darrien  had merely given her an
intense stare that let her know she was
 going to pay for this later!  She smiled absentmindedly.
As long as she paid in kisses!

"So remember that ripped pajama set you had?" She asked.

"Oh Serena! I grew out of those years ago...
but I still have them."

"How'd they get ripped?" Serena asked...she knew, but she wasn't
 supposed to.

Molly blushed.  "I don' really remember.  It's
weird.  It's like  there was someone I wasn't supposed
 to forget, and I did, I just did.  But then, thats ok,
 because I gave the ripped part to help
 Melvin.  He's kept it ever since--isn't that silly?  " she shook
her head.  "I had this awful scare one night--one night!--well,
a coupl' times.  I guess I kept forgettin' things,...and"

"Oh what Molly?" She asked. "Why'd you stop?"

"Yawr pocket is beepin'  Ya have a beeper owr somethin?"
 Molly inquired.

"OH! Uhh heh heh, yeah!" Serena said.  She got up.
 "Excsue me a  sec. It's probably Darrien. He likes to
keep tabs and he misses me. "

"Oh you two are *soooo* sweet...first I thawt that guyz too ol'
for you, but then...well he's as perfect for you as my Mel is for
me" She sighed. "Hey why didn' he jes call you?"

"Uh yeah!"
Serena said, rolling her eyes as she turned around. "It's a cell
 phone. Our private "love line""  <>
Molly rolled her eyes as she flipped through the magazine while
Serena went into the kitchen for the call.  "Wow, she's so gone
 on him, it's too funny. I wonder if she knows how corny
she sounds?"

Serena pushed the badge of her communicator.   "HEY! What's up?"
 She said at Ami's face.

"We need you SailorMoon." Ami said simply.  "This has gotten much
more complicated.   I've contacted Susannaah.  She'll pick you
 up in a helicopter and fly you over here."

"Uh, why do you need me--I've gotten Molly talking now--
I can't just leave! It'll look funny..."

"Already considered. I've sent Venus over there.
She'll cover for you."

"Why do I have to go" She started to whine, but stopped it short.
"Ok.  I'll be there."

The doorbell rang.  Serena hung up the communicator, and went to
 anawer the door "Sorry Moll-it's one thing after another tonight!"

In the door stood --Catsy?" Serena said...but the hair was blond
"HI! I'm from the *Venus* Beuty Supply!  We've got great make
up to show you--I have that cream you wanted."

"I'm not interested." Serena said as started to close the door.

"OH! Serena, that's not true." The woman said blocking the door.
 She accidently stepped on Serena's foot, who began to dance around.

"WHOOPS! But I have the perfect peppermint foot cream for that..
here, let's get you to lie down.  I'll help.  She pushed
her up the stairs quickly out of Molly's earshot.
"Serena?  It's me, Mina --gosh you're slow tonight!"

Molly's voice called out loudly.. "HEY..are you all
right Serena'?"

"OH fine Molly!! I've just uh, this woman left a cream sample in
 my room , I"m just gonna help her look. I'll be right down!" She
said smoothly.  "Why don't you make another pot of tea?"

Molly nodded and went back to the living room and
through to the  kitchen.

"That was close.  " Venus said, as she stood there.
She lifted the hat off her head, revealing her hair done as Serena's
 "Let me borrow your clothes. The closer we look the easier it'll be
in case the disguise magic gets weak.  I'm not sure how long this'll
take you.   "Her face flickered and she suddenly the girls looked
like identical twins.  "Here's the Luna pen.  You can disguise
 yourself as the cosmetics woman.  "

Serena nodded, and did so.  "Are you going to be ok?  "

"Never fear!" Mina said..."I'm an actress remember! I can play you."

"That's what I"m afraid of!" Serena muttered. "Ok...I'll see you soon."

She walked down and out--a few yards away a helicopter hovered.

"Get in.  We're causing a scene." Susannah, no Sailorpluto said.

She hurriedly did so. "It's so LOUD."

"I know." She pulled up and quickly it left.

"There's a helicopter out there!" Molly said..."Wonder what
 it was doing here?"

Joe grinned at his friend Ken as they sipped their beers...
"You know Ken, you're good friends with that Lita girl aren't you? "
 he asked casually, though he didn't feel so casual. He'd been
meaning to ask for months, since he'd seen her with Ken once.  She
seemed so familiar, but he couldn't place why.

"Lita, the Amazing Amazon?" Joked a pug nosed guy next to him. "
The rough and tough girl?"
"Yeah, she's grown *way* up, but I have to say she's one   mountain
I'd like to climb."Another dim witted slob commented.
Before Joe could even blink, Ken turned around and neatly pinned
 the mans arm "HEY." He said.   "Don't speak about the lady like
 that.    "

"Hey man, my arm, it's hurting." The man sniveled.

"Yeah, consider yourself lucky *she* didn't hear that rude comment.
Or you wouldn't have an arm."

"Uh, I didn't mean any disrespect...man, let go!" The guy whined.

Ken let go, and two headed away to a table. "Sorry Joe.  I'm very
 of protective of her.  She's like my little sister. I didn't
 mean to cause a scene."

Joe breathed in relieved.  "I thought you sounded like an
angry boyfriend..."

Ken laughed.  "Yeah, and Kerri would kill me if I had
*another* girlfriend.  No. Lita and I, well, we may not
be just friends, but we're a million miles away
from anything romantic! "

"Hard to believe, the way you sound about her--she's special to you.'

"Joe, Joe, Joe...when you were hanging around in arcades,
 Lita was there with me, playing ball, watching my back,
defending me, teasing me...she *is* my sister in everyway
that matters to me.   We used to live next door to each other
..til her parents died.  My parents took her in for a while
so she literally did live as my sister.  Then she moved out
to live with a relative." Ken said.     He knew the last was a lie.
  She lived alone.  He helped her perpretate the myth of the
 distant relative who saved her from the orphanage- well, Ken
 knew his parents would have tried to keep her.  Lita was
stubborn though--and it had been tough space wise after
his little brother was born.  Her consideration for
others was one of the best things  about her. Once he
saw the independence was good for her, he didn't try to convince
 her otherwise.  She'd been too much of a tomboy around him,
and moving to her new school she'd developed female friends,
and grown into a lovely woman.  He smiled, proud of his friend.

"So, uh, if I wanted to ask her out, you wouldn't
kill me?" Joe said.

"Only if you hurt her!" Ken laughed.  "That is if
she doens't first!

"Well, the way you talk about her she sounds worth
 dying for." he kidded.

Ken's tone was somber. "She is .Anyway, she's been asking
 about you...she thinks I didn't notice but I did.
  I'd say call her."

 They paused, and suddenly a commotion at the door
 caught their attention.  A very beautiful woman was entering
the bar.  A couple guys said hello to her, she just kept
 walking, oblivious. Her hair was very dark--and, Ken thought,
 in the light of the bar it looked odly , well, green.

He blinked. It must be the lighting he thought.  Part
of what was getting the attention was the incredibly
short skirt she was wearing.  It looked like a school
uniform--but she was too old to be in school.

   Joe sighed, knowing that the garb problably
was getting more than a few fantasys going.
They'd need a mop for the drool.  He sighed...she probably
shouldn't be wearing that in here.  Then again, the guys
in here shouldn't be so stupid. But they were.

"Think she needs help? " He asked Ken.

A couple of very inebrietated soldiers on break leaned over
 and blocked her path.  "Hey babe. I said hello. Don't you have
 time for a little hello,or  a drink on me?"

She gave a twisted sounded snort.  "Time? You ask me?" She shook
 her head with a weird, ÔI'm-amused, but-don't
think-you'll-share-the-joke." kind of look.

Another interjected "Ignore him, baby, I've been
 looking for you all my life."

 "You'll keep looking.  I'm here for someone and It's not
 you." She said. She pushed her long staff, and the man got out
the way.  Imperially, she moved through.

Ken was about to go tell the guys to back off.  He hated men
disrespecting women.

"Hey, nice staff , but wait til you see the one I have" one guy
snickered.

He stopped as she slammed the end towards him, landing
an inch away from his head.

  "If you want to keep it, you'll leave. NOW." She
ordered. He ran out the door.

She turned her head.  The top of the globe glowed faintly.  She
simply glared at another with her red eyes, and he sunk back.
 "Hey man, did you see those eyes?"He whispered to
his companion. "Let's get out of here."

"Excuse me gentleman" She said coming up to Ken and
 Joe.  "Joe,  I am SailorPluto. We have need of
 your assistance." She gestured
 for him to leave.

Joe swallowed.  The Sailors were real?  A faint memory tugged at
 him, but he pushed it away.  A long time ago, he'd been attacked
, and then kidnapped, and when that happened he'd lost the memories
of what happened.  He got a bit of counseling over that, and
 had recently been trying to deal with his weird telekietic powers.

He thought he'd lost them after the attack but realized that
he hadn't.  It was harder, but he could still do it.

He wondered if there was a connection.   "See you later Ken!"
He said, his voice a little strange.

The woman nodded. "Your friend will be back soon."

Ken followed them out.  This was odd.  He couldn't
see where they were--then he thought he heard a helicopter
 taking off--"funny, they don't usually land here!" He could
the see the sillouette of it tearing through the sky.

"That was odd....about as odd when I was attacked by
that monster that one time." He frowned.  A real
sailorscout..well, he'd have to tell Lita about
that tomorrow. She always seemed so enamored of them..he'd
even found stuff (accidently) in her apartment that was
 like the symbol for Jupiter.  He smiled.  So mature,
and still such a kid that she had toys! He grinned,
those things maintained a connection to an idealied world
and as such couldn't be all bad he thought.  The world
was tough enough, and escape now and again was a totally good thing.

"Gosh, Serena you seem different all of a sudden.
  I mean, we havent been spending much time together lately ."

"I guess we've both changed."." Mina bit her lip.
 She needed to do a better job.  What was wrong with her?
  When she was Sailor V, she had to rely much more on herself.
 Now, that she had all the others, she'd revelled a bit in
 her lost childhood.  She'd gotten ditzier and ditzier...till
her merely opening her mouth sometimes drove Rei up the wall,
or Lita to tears of laughter.  She could do this.  She would do this.
  "Oh so you were telling me about..."

"about that bandage...It's awfully romantic he kept it like that.
 Does Darrien have anything like that of yours?"

"I don't know really..." She smiled.  "Oh, I think they're
 coming back now!" Internally she felt a surge of panic.
Could she pull this off?

"Hey Melvin--did you guys have a good time!" She asked....
Darien was looking at her oddly.  She paused. She knew it
 looked odd that she didn't go and try to cuddle with him.
  "Hm.  Can I have a word with you hon? We'll get you guys some tea!"

"But Serena--there's plenty of tea on the table!?" A
 puzzled Molly said.

"OH! Coffee then!"She said, dragging Darrien with her.

"What's going on?" He said, pulling her arm up so
 she was against him.  "And after that evening--you at
least owe me a kiss." He moved forwards, quickly checking
that no one was around...

For a half second, Mina was too stunned to move...
but then she did and the kiss ended up on her bow.

Suddenly, Darrien noticed he was kissing satin
instead of his love's satiny skin.  "Uh, Serena?"

"I'm Mina!" She said.  She hurried to make the coffee.
  "I'm substituting...SailorMoon was needed, and she couldn't just
disappear on Molly...That was close!"

"What!"   Darrien blinked.  He'd almost kissed Mina!
Well,, she looked like Serena, but it still would have
been awkward.  Now that he thought about, he was glad
he'd never kissed Rei.  He'd pretended and so did she,
that they didn't remember, but he was sure they both
did about her crush on him.  He'd long since learned
to treat his girlfriend's beautiful friends as little
 sisters--it was the only way to deal with it--because
 though he loved Serena, his future wife, they both
knew that just because you are in love with someone
doesn't make you oblivious to others.  Love was what
 made it possible to squelch any such impulses....but
they needed to be squelched all the same.

"Sorry Mina." This was awkward he thought, regardless.

"It's ok. " She smiled.  "Sorry I squirmed like that...
nothing against you but when a guy's about to kiss me,
I'd like him to *kiss me*...not Serena "

He smiled back. "So was the mission successful?"

"Phase one anyway--we've got to the get the cloth
from Melvin!" She said. "I hope the others are ok."

"I haven't felt a thing. They must be."

She nodded, as she carried the tray out, she managed
 to knock the tea pot off the table.  She blushed,
and said "Well, good thing we have the coffee!" Everyone
laughed, as she embarrasedly joined in as well.  "Serena, you
haven't changed at all!" Molly teased.  Mina laughed to
herself saying "Oh, maybe a little....sometime I
think I"m a completely different person."

Darrien turned over in his mind the times Serena
had dressed like Mina to be with him on
earth...odly the exact opposite of the situation
now.

"There--I can see the island." Joe shouted over
the noise.  No one would believe this--no, *he*
couldn't believe it and he was right there!  Sailor Moon
--THE sailormoon was seated behind him and next to him was
a Sailor he'd never even  heard of but wouldn't forget.
She was much older than the sailor's he'd seen in the movie
 adds and games.  And the kicker is--they needed *his* help.

Expertly, SailorPluto landed the chopper.  Thankfully
 thought SailorMoon as she uncupped the headphones from
her head. "THAT IS SO LOUD" She shouted...."I Can't hear a THING!!!"

"STOP YELLING!!!!" Pluto yelled.  "You'll wake the DEAD
with that SCREAM"

"You're yelling!" She muttered.

"Wouldn't want to inadvertanly launch my attack." SailorPluto
 said calmly--"Go on they're over there. I'll wait here."

SailorMoon ran, with Joe on her heels over to a large vat
of ice.  Up some weird ice stairs were three more sailors!

"Gosh, they're beautiful...especially the tall one!" He
thought looking at them.

"JOE!" Jupiter said..."We're glad you're here.  We need
your ability"

HE frowned--did they know *everything* about him?  His
 name--his secret talent...he couldn't believe this.

The one with the really blue hair (he looked
twice for that) smiled and said "There's an object
inside this animal.  We need you to concentrate--we'll
 help, so you can dislodge it.  IT's a huge crystal---inside."

"This is so weird. " He said....

The one with the long dark hair fixed him with a stare
 as intesne as flame.  "Yes. But we need your help.
We'll lend you strength." She threw a scroll of paper on
 him--and he felt a burst of energy...

HE closed his eyes, held out his hand--and felt *it*
move towards him.

"It's working---he's doing it!"   Sailor Moon chirped excitedly.

"I can see it now---keep going." Jupiter shouted....

He felt really really weak---he hadn't moved anything
this big ever!  Embarrasing, that he would snk, but he
did to his knees. These women were fighters--they didn't
 give up.  HE wouldn't either...He kept the tugging up...

"It's almost out!" He heard the one with long dark hair say...

He felt his head slump toward the ground...

Jumping, Jupiter caught him and gently picked him up and carried
 him to the Ôcopter.  "I think he's feeling a bit weak.
 That was a huge energy drain.  Look after him Pluto."
Then she ran back to the others.

Mercury was analyzing the crystaline object that was three quart
ers of the way out of the whale creatures mouth, onto the lip of
 the pool.  They could see something inside--yellowish and dark grey.
That's all they could make out.

"This crystal needs to be cut..." Mars said, fingering it with her
gloved hand "There---as I said, something is alive in there!!"

Jupiter grabbed the edges of the crystal
and pulled..  She shot  back as the object dislodged
onto her falling over the side of
the pool.  Immediately, SailorMoon used her healing
 on the Whale  Monster--it's legs dissappeared, and
Mars melted the pool,  and the creature slid back
 into the ocean, confused but concious.

Jupiter wasn't faring so well.  The crystal
 had landed on top of her.  She was out--but otherwise
 unharmed.  "That was a hard fall.
She shouldn't have rushed to pull like that!" Mars said
angrily, as  she worriedly looked at her friend.
  "Jupiter--HEY"

Jupiter's eyes flickered up "I'm ok."

SailorMoon shook her head. "NO!  Go rest right
 now in the Ôcopter ..."

(Some alone time with Joe wouldn't be a bad thing either!
She giggled to herself" Yep, fighter of justice and matchmaker!).

Ami was looking at the crystal.  "We need something to
cut into it.  Like a laser or some other hot focussed light."

Rei frowned.  "We dont' have anything like that here.
Maybe we'd better wait -transport it back to the shrine,
and work on getting something capable of cutting into it there."

Pluto cleared her throat.  "I don't think we need to wait."
She walked over to the crystal , fingered the surface, and
then--launched her dead scream strait at the top.  The huge
 globe of energy blasted the top, creating a huge crack,
that split the thing in half.

Out of the remains of the shards stepped a man.  Dressed
in a uniform, blonde hair short, but slightly shaggy and
in need of a trim.   His eyes were points of rage.  "SO!
I'm saved from the eternal sleep for one more fight--Oh
Beryl -you shall not regret letting me have one last chance."
 He prepared to attack, but was stopped.

ANOTHER ONE?  He thought staring at the girl, no woman,
carrying a staff.  She returend the stare, her long green
hair swaying in the breeze. " No. Beryl won't regret--ever
 again.  She's dead." The woman said quietly.

"Dead?" He reached out with his mind--feeling an absence
of the presence of his world.  "How?" He questioned.
Blankly he stared at the woman "Who are you?"

"Jaedite, I told you repeatedly." Sailor Moon said,
"I am, SailorMoon,  the champion of justice, defender
 of the innocent.  In the name of the Moon, I right
wrongs and triumph over evil."

"But this is impossible..." He muttered. "Our world..
its all gone, how?"

"I triumphed." Moon said glibly.

"So you're here to finish the job? " His eyes
looked wildly about.  "Try then.  I will preserve my honor."

He launched a blast of negative energy--but to
his surprise found it blocked by a wall of ice.

"What!  All you can do is make a weak fog!"
He shouted  in surprise at Mercury.

"I've learned a few tricks." She said smiling.
 "We all have. "

He tried again---but saw attacks blasted by a huge
circle of flame.  Weakly he fell to his knees.  "WHAT?"

"That's only my second weakest.  Really. " Mars said.
 "You dont' have to fight us.  You won't win.  None of
 your fellow generals won.  Don't fight."

"I have to--my world is gone!" He swore.
 He felt completely alone.

"We're not attacking you!" Sailor Moon pleaded.
"We're only defending ourselves.  We don't want to fight you--"

"There can be no other resolution.  FIGHT ME!" He
screamed---he whirled, since the other two scouts were
protecting Sailormoon, he'd attack the unknown one.
 Maybe she wouldn't know his powers.

SailorMoon screamed as the attack headed towards Pluto.
A fire bird of energy swooped in knocking away
the attack, followed by a blast of temporal energy which crashed into
Jaedite immobolizing him.
"why do you not finnish me!" He shouted....he
was almost about to faint, his energy dwindled to
nothing.  How did they have such power?

"I think now is the time SailorMoon." Pluto said,
 stepping back.

"RIGHT!" She said, beginning to gracefully
twirl the moon rod, as it gained power she sang
"Moon Healing Activiation!"

A bright shot of light rushed towards Jaedite--
swarming over him, until he felt himself being
pulled apart and put back together--the right way...
.he was *himself*.  He remembered everything---NO!
It couldn't have happened--how did he betray his love?
 How could the negaverse take him twice?  He saw himself
as a little boy growing up in the modern world, only to
be snatched when he was 20, by a monster.  He felt that
fade away--everything fade into--the face that looked
down at him now.

"Rei?" He whispered.  He collapsed again....into oblivion.

"I think he's ok now Sailor Moon." Mars said--he looked
as if he might be harmless now.  She concentrated,
reaching for evil.  "I sense nothing evil."

Sailor Moon smiled. "Then let's go home!   I bet the
others will be real surprised to see him!"

Coming soon: Sequels!  The first "Into the fire" will tell Rei
 and Jaedite's story, revealing more of that ancient romance
and how they deal with each other in their new lives.

I intend to create happy endings...but of course,
for that you need beginnings and the story in between;).
