Reunion

Chapter 10
The lights in the palace were on, giving it the appearance of
another sun. A hundred people or so were walking, chatting,
drinking, dancing and giving life to the Moon. The Inner
princesses except Venus were gathered together, talking
about the surprise Venus had said she was going to bring.
Jupiter had already spotted three or four hunks, who (poor
them) were on her conquest list. Mars had located her night's
victim, and as she was looking at him so intensely; she had
scared the poor man.
Mercury just stood there, grinning to everyone who came
close to her. The smile was plastered on her face, and her lips
were starting to ache from too many fake smiles. She had
scanned several times through the crowd, looking for no one in
particular. Well, that was not entirely true. Deep, deep inside,
she was looking for him. She still had this need to see him
again; it didn't matter if it was the last time.
To her disappointment, there was no one in there with orange
hair. She had seen Prince Endymion and the other three
Generals, but Zoisite wasn't with them, or anywhere to be
found. She didn't know that he had being forbidden to come to
the Moon, and every time the doors opened, her heart leaped
a bit, and she stretched her neck, trying to see if it was him.
But every time, she had to sigh in frustration, as he never
appeared.
Some meters away, Serenity and Endymion chatted together.
Endymion noticed that several times, Serenity had smiled a
bit, to then look back at him again.
"What's up Serenity?" he asked, his curiosity getting bigger
with every moment.
"What? Why do you think I'm up to something?"
"Well, there's a little grin that's been dancing in your lips for
quite a while now, and I've only seen it before when you're
planning something."
"You know me too well Endymion. Have you checked on
Mercury?"
"Lady Mercury? Yeah, she seems pretty well for me, not as I
was told she was."
"Don't let her deceive you."
"What do you mean?"
"Look at her now." Endymion casually turned around, and
gazed through the dancing couples at Mercury. He saw as her
eyes moved around the crowd, apparently looking for
something, or someone. He turned back to Serenity and said:
"She's pretty impatient back there. It looks like she's waiting
for someone to come."
"Precisely. She is looking for Lord Zoisite."
"For Zoi?"
"Yes. She has looked at that door every single time it has
opened. I bet it's him the one she's been searching for. I knew
that act she played in her room was false."
"Act?"
"Yes. A couple of hours ago, when we were trying to convince
her to come, she was very depressed, just as you were told
she was. Then, she suddenly changed her attitude. She
started singing, smiling, and being the Mercury we knew. But,
as you know I can sense people's feelings, I felt there was
something wrong. And I was right. She still loves him."
"Well, in that case why don't they just talk to each other?"
"You mean Ami and Lord Zoisite? They won't. She maybe the
shyest one of all of us, but she is also the most stubborn.
Inside her, there is a pride that I think sometimes surpasses
even Mars'. So, she will never talk to him in person, unless
some one would put them together..."
"I know what you mean. Zoi is the same. He's the weakest of
all, but whenever he gets angry... hmm, it makes me shiver
just to think about it. He's very proud too, it would be
impossible to make him talk to her, unless, as you said
there's a third intervention in here. Have you got anything
planned?"
"Me?"
"Yes, you Serenity. I know there's something. Come on, tell
me!"
"I can't, not until it's done."
"Oh, so there is something. Ok, I'll wait, but only if you
promise me something."
"What?"
"The next five dances will be for me."
"Oh, you greedy one, but that's fine with me. But I don't think
that guy over there will like it." The Princess gestured over to a
man standing by the window, who had watched them for a
long time.
"Him?"
"Yeah, he's being looking at us since we started dancing."
"Bah. Let him suffer. You are mine for the next five dances, so
let him wait. Now, come on, the music is starting." Endymion
grabbed Serenity's hand, and carried her to the dancing place.
Then, he encircled her body with his arms, and they both let
their minds wander away with the beautiful Moonlight
Rhapsody....
