Chapter 12

Serenity danced swiftly in Suri's arms, smiling at him all the
time. Suri was a bit embarrassed, and a bit of red covered his
cheeks. "What's wrong, Zoisite?"

"Wha... what?? You recognized me?"

"No, Venus told me what she was planning to do. I just put
two and two together, and came with four."

Suri smiled, feeling better. In spite of he being the man, he
noticed that Serenity was leading the dance. She had moved
them both to a further part of the room, where he noticed only
two or three couples were dancing. He looked around, and
saw that they were in another room. "Princess, where are we?
Where are you taking us?"

"To where the objective of all this act is."

"You mean, Ami?"

"Of course Zoisite. She is right here."

"He... here? Where?"

"Take a look behind me, near the window."

Suri did as he was told, and gazed behind Serenity. There,
standing alone, looking through the glass-window, her mind
clearly some place else, was Mercury. She was wearing a
pretty light-blue dress, which reminded Suri of the one she
had used when they first met. She was so... contemplative.
Her eyed were fixed on something, and ignored completely the
people around her. Suri's heart got bigger with happiness for
seeing her again, but was worried about her expression. She
looked so sad, destroyed.

Serenity giggled, waking him up. "I knew you still loved her."

"I always have. She was the one who played with me."

"Don't be so sure."

"What?"

"Don't worry, everything will come clear tonight. Now, are you
ready?"

"Ready for what?"

"To go and talk to her of course!"

"You mean... now?"

"Of course. Which time is better than the present?"

"But, I'm not ready yet... what am I gonna tell her... what if
she doesn't want to talk to me... what am I going to do?"

Serenity looked into his eyes, and said: "Just be yourself. She
doesn't love your looks; she loves you. Now, go!" The
Princess stopped their dancing, a few meters away from
Mercury, and pushed Suri with all her might away from her. He
was surprised, and couldn't hold to anything. He stumbled
backwards, and when he was able to regain balance, he was
just behind the still-in-some-place-else princess. He opened
his eyes widely, and made some frantic gestures to Serenity.
She just shrugged, and whispered: "It's up to you now." Then,
she walked away, making sure Suri wasn't following her. Then,
she disappeared in the crowd, leaving the General very
confused, and wondering what could he do...
