Lupinians (Dust Bunnies)
The Lupinians, or Dust Bunnies, as they are more commonly known, are a quiet, unassuming race. A member planet of the Alliance, Lupinia and its colonies of moons and nearby sub-planets are protected from unwanted attention by numerous electro-magnetically charged “dust clouds” ringing their system. The system – a double-looped figure eight, due to the presence of twin suns – has avoided interstellar conflict over the centuries due in part to the curious disabling effect its rings have on plasma weapons, rendering ships momentarily defenseless when entering – but not exiting – the system. Its hosts’ ingenius ways of controlling and simulating this effect throughout the inner confines in the loop has only added to their security.
Lupinians are neither strongly militaristic or highly commercial. While they can fight, and trade, and explore, and indeed have in fact done all of these things on numerous occasions, they prefer to keep to themselves. Inter-worldly commerce within the loop is high, but few Lupinians venture out of the system, content instead with waiting for traders and merchants to come to them – a tactic that tends to protect Lupinians from pirates of all calibers. Those rabbits who do leave the safety of the dust clouds tend to take jobs as clerics or servants of some kind, their easy-going natures and penchant for taking orders making them ideally suited for such roles. Indeed, Lupinian assistants are highly sought across the whole of the Alliance, much as British butlers and proper English nannies are sought in refined Earth societies. For their part, Lupinians seem content in their roles as a servant class, ignoring details like creeds and politics in favor of the bottom line, and are generally willing to work for the highest bidder, whomever that may be.
