RecitalIn the sphere of instrumental music, India occupies a prominent position. There are as many as 500 musical instruments with distinct names and techniques of play. The musical instruments of India have been so devised as to fully serve the needs of her highly developed melodic system of music. All music performances are accompanied by artists on musical instruments. Indian musical instruments are classified as:
    A Rajasthani Tata Vadhya
  • Gana Vadhya - Solid instruments that do not require any tuning are called Gana Vadhya. Cymbals, Jaltarang are some of the Gana Vadhyas.
  • Avanaddha Vadhya - Percussion instruments that have one or two faces covered with the hide skin are called Avanaddha Vadhya. Mridhangam, Dolak, Tabla are some of the Avanadda Vadhyas.
  • Sushira Vadhya - Wind instruments are called Sushira Vadhya. Some of the common instruments are Nadhaswaram, Flute and Shehnai.
  • Tata Vadhya - Stringed instruments that stretch in tension are called Tata Vadhya. Veena, Violin, Tambura, Gottuvadhyam, Sitar, Sarod are some of the Tata Vadhyas.
