Sakura

Cherry Blossoms

Sakura, Sakura, Cherry blossoms fall,
to the ground and drop down to die, just like all
things good must come to an end, and it's a shame
that the same cherry blossoms cannot rise again,
but instead drop down, and are scattered around,
and are trampled down until the petals turn brown.
A shadow of their former beauty now past.
Why is it that nothing good can last?
The petals open up in a bloom of life,
and a wondrous scent begins to fill the sky.
You breath in the aroma let it take you away.
A sweet smelling drug for your soul and it may,
just hypnotise you, you feel at one with the universe,
Sakura Sakura, your petals give a burst,
of beatiful colour, oh so fresh and so pure -
an innocent beauty. Sakura, Sakura,
You don't understand the way of the world.
Innocence blooms as your buds start to grow,
Unaware that your beauty has a limited life,
as the daylight, must always pass away to night.
Is this how it is, do you not know destiny?
And if not, is this the way that it should be?
Would your beauty be so much if you knew you would die?
If you knew all of this would you ever even try?
Sakura Sakura, do you have the answers
to these questions I have, and could you ever ask them?
With the inquisitiveness of youth, in its innocence,
Never really understanding just how life is.
Uncorrupted by the evils of earth as you bloom,
and sing the song of your scent into a sunny afternoon.
Giving a message of joy to all of those that behold,
and for all of those that take notice, you warm their souls.
At that moment, conception of time falls away,
But yet so will your blossoms in a couple of days.
Many never really notice until they see the ground.
And never really see your beauty till it's broken down.

Now your petals start to fall down below,
and drift through the air so it seems to snow.
Maybe it's many butterflys sailing in the breeze,
Sakura, Sakura, petals fall from the trees.
And finally now they come to reach the ground,
A gentle carpet of blossoms lie all around.
The trees now stripped of their colour seem sad.
Sakura, Sakura, does it make you feel bad?
Sakura, Sakura, Cherry blossoms fall,
to the ground and drop down to die, just like all
things good must come to an end, and it's a shame
that the same cherry blossoms cannot rise again,
but instead drop down, and are scattered around,
and are trampled down until the petals turn brown.
A shadow of their former beauty now past.
Why is it that nothing good can last?

And now your petals lie all over the floor,
like droplets of blood, full of life no more.
Something has died in your beauty, your best days are done.
Your branches seem dull now the blossoms are gone.
The petals slowly curl and the colour fades away,
As a reminder that all must change, nothing can stay,
and it seems a shame to feel that something is lost,
and if it cannot be retrieved it's a greater loss.
Sakura, Sakura, people must apreciate,
It's best to make the most of what you have before it's too late,
What's done is done, and cannot be done again,
This is a fact of life, and it's the way
of the universe. So we should know this and use it.
There is no need for me to demonstrate or proove it.
Just know what you have, and when you have it let go,
Then a loss is no loss. This you should know.

I got the idea for this song, from a traditional Japanese song. It starts of something like.."Sakura, Sakura, yayoi no sora wa.." (that's all I remember). I found the words (of the traditional song) in a book, but I don't know the tune.

For the music (which you can't hear HA!), I used a synthesiser, and made it pretend to be a Shakuhachi and a Samisen. It was meant to sound a bit like Noh music, but with a Hip Hop rythm added.

This song is a bit more peaceful and poetic than my usual songs. A more typical song of mine is "Shichibun".
